It's Official: Metro Manila Is Ending 2020 in Quarantine

President Rodrigo Duterte on November 30 extended COVID-19 quarantine classifications for another month, until December 31, meaning existing restrictions are in place throughout the Christmas month.

Metro Manila, Batangas, Iloilo City, Tacloban City, Lanao del Sur, Iligan City, and Davao City will remain under General Community Quarantine, the second lowest in a four-step classification system; while most of the country will be under Modified General Community Quarantine, one notch lower.

Quarantines have been in place in mid-March and on November 27, the private sector placed an advance order for 2.6 million doses of Astra Zeneca's COVID-19 vaccine. The government plans to start its immunization program as early as the second half of 2021.
