Daisy Ridley and Sosie Bacon are teaming up for a road trip horror movie called Get Rid of It, which will also star Simon Rex. The casting news comes shortly after we heard that Ridley had landed the lead role in Paramount+’s Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea reimagining and Bacon had joined MGM+’s supernatural horror series The Black Tapes. Now, the two actresses are heading into feature film horror territory together.
Variety reports that Get Rid of It will be directed by Ry Russo-Young from a screenplay by Gemma Holdway. The film is scheduled to shoot at the beginning of 2027, with Upgrade, CAA Media Finance, and Range Select launching the project at the American Film Market and handling sales.
In Get Rid of It, Ridley plays Harper, who discovers she is pregnant following a one-night stand with a mysterious drifter named Miller (Rex). Harper and her sister Jessie (Bacon) set off on a cross-country road trip, but their journey becomes a fight for survival when they discover that the thing growing inside Harper may not be human.

Ridley is best known for playing Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, which began with The Force Awakens in 2015. Her other recent credits include We Bury the Dead and Cleaner. She was recently announced as the star of Paramount+’s Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea reimagining, playing ocean scientist Lee Crane. The series will follow Crane as she takes command of the futuristic submarine USS Seaview and investigates mysteries involving the ocean and the legendary city of Atlantis.
Bacon, meanwhile, is familiar to horror fans thanks to her starring role in the 2022 hit Smile. She recently joined Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in MGM+’s eight-episode adaptation of the supernatural horror podcast The Black Tapes. Bacon will play Alex Regan, a physicist who initially approaches paranormal investigations as a scientific debunker before encountering evidence that challenges everything she believes.
Rex has appeared in films like Red Rocket and Bodies Bodies Bodies.
Who Is Making Get Rid of It?
David Lancaster is producing the film. His previous credits include Damien Chazelle’s Whiplash, which earned a Best Picture Oscar nomination, as well as Nightcrawler and Drive. Russo-Young’s directing credits include the sci-fi teen thriller Before I Fall, starring Zoey Deutch, and the coming-of-age drama The Sun Is Also a Star, starring Charles Melton. She has also directed episodes of the Apple TV+ series Shrinking, which stars Harrison Ford and Jason Segel.
