Freaky and Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon was supposed to be working on Scream 7 – but that project turned out to be so troubled, he had to activate his ejector seat and get out of there. While he has since been replaced on Scream 7 by Kevin Williamson, he has been busy lining up other genre projects, signing on to direct the werewolf thriller Big Bad and the “fast-paced thriller” Drop. Coming our way from Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes, the production company team that has previously brought us the Purge franchise, Drop moved forward first, reaching theatres on April 11th. Just over two weeks later, the movie got a digital release and is available on Prime Video at THIS LINK. If you’re more interested in watching the movie on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, or DVD than you are in checking out the digital version, you’ll be glad to know that Drop‘s physical media release is scheduled for June 10th. Written by Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach, a writing duo that has previously worked with Blumhouse on the horror projects Truth or Dare and Fantasy Island, Drop has the following synopsis: First dates can be rough. In this mind-bending action thriller from the director of Happy Death Day, they can also be deadly. Violet is a widowed mother who has worked up the courage to go on her first date in years with a charming photographer named Henry. The cute couple’s killer chemistry is rudely interrupted by a series of anonymous drops to Violet’s phone showing a masked intruder entering her home and ordering her to follow a series of instructions. Violet must do exactly as she’s told or her loved ones will die. Her unseen tormentor’s final directive? Kill Henry.

Meghann Fahy (The Perfect Couple) stars as the single mother and is joined in the cast by Violett Beane (The Flash), Brandon Sklenar (1923), Jeffery Self (The Horror of Dolores Roach), Gabrielle Ryan (Power Book IV: Force), and newcomer Jacob Robinson, who has a large following on his parent-run Tik Tok account. Blumhouse founder Jason Blum produced Drop alongside Platinum Dunes’ Michael Bay, Bradley Fuller, and Cameron Fuller, with Cameron being acknowledged as the person who brought the Jacobs / Roach script to Platinum Dunes in the first place. Sam Lerner serves as executive producer. The film comes from Universal.

Bumbray said this is “one of (Blumhouse’s) best movies in a long time and the kind of tightly-paced, ninety-minute thriller we need more of. I had a blast.“ Landon has described the film as a blend of Hitchcock and the style of ’90s thrillers.

Earlier this year, Full Moon founder Charles Band announced that his company was launching a new production label called Pulp Noir, which will focus on “edgier, weirder, darker horror and dark fantasy films.” They also set up a Patreon account where fans can subscribe and show their support for the company while getting a behind-the-scenes look at the making of these films. The first movie in the Pulp Noir line, a female serial killer story called Quadrant, wrapped production a while back – and now Full Moon has announced that the movie will be getting Blu-ray, DVD, limited edition VHS, and streaming release (on Amazon Prime, Full Moon Features, and Tubi, among others) on August 23rd!

Directed by Band, Quadrant was written by C. Courtney Joyner and is described as being an unholy blend of steampunk terror and sci-fi slasher, with a female serial killer using the titular VR device to stalk her prey and channel the legacy of Jack the Ripper, and another heroic woman entering the ether-verse to bring her down!

Promotional art features a more in-depth synopsis: Developed by scientists Harry and Meg, the Quadrant helmet allows your mind to transport you into a world where all your phobias and nightmares are real, while also granting you the strength to defeat them, liberating you from their control forever. But the Quadrant experiment is about to go terribly wrong. When Erin, a young girl who’s obsessed with Jack the Ripper, uses the device to actually become the Ripper, she unleashes a reign of terror, first in her mind in an AI version of old London created by the Quadrant, and then in reality, where she now stalks the contemporary city streets, seeking out victims for her blade. The only way to stop this savage new Ripper is for an even more vicious killer to enter the artificial Quadrant-verse and bring her down. What ensues is a brutal, bloody battle, murderer against murderer, both in this world and the surreal, dangerous, synthetic world of Quadrant!

Quadrant stars Shannon Helene Barnes, Emma Reinagel, and Christian Carrigan.

In a press release, Full Moon notes that “Quadrant is definitely a quote on our glorious (and GORE-ious) ’80s Empire Pictures incarnation, and so it makes PERFECT sense to also make a VHS version available…for all you hardcore media collectors out there (and we KNOW you’re out there!).“

Yesterday, we shared the news that the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga – director George Miller’s latest and (given the disappointing box office numbers) possibly final entry in the Mad Max franchise – will be receiving a VOD release on June 25th. Now we have good news for the physical media collectors out there: Furiosa will be reaching 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on August 13th! Copies are available for pre-order at THIS LINK.

Directed by Miller from a screenplay he wrote with Nico Lathouris, Furiosa has the following synopsis: As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by the Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home. The story takes place over a span of fifteen years.

Title character Furiosa is played by Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch), taking over from Fury Road‘s Charlize Theron. Lachy Hulme (Offspring) pulls double duty, playing both Fury Road villain Immortan Joe (taking over from the late Hugh Keays-Byrne) and a character called Rizzdale Pell, who is “one of the gang members affiliated with the warlord Dementus.” Dementus is a pretty horrible individual, and he’s played by Chris Hemsworth (Thor). Also in the cast are Tom Burke (C.B. Strike) and Quaden Bayles (Three Thousand Years of Longing), with Alyla Browne (The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart) as a younger Furiosa. Nathan Jones and Angus Sampson reprise their Fury Road roles of Rictus Erectus and The Organic Mechanic.

Furiosa comes to 4K UHD with the following special features: Highway to Valhalla: In Pursuit of Furiosa – Stowaway to Nowhere – Metal Beasts & Holy Motors – Darkest Angel: Anya Taylor-Joy as Furiosa – Motorbike Messiah: Chris Hemsworth as Dementus. The regular Blu-ray will only contain the Highway to Valhalla: In Pursuit of Furiosa and Stowaway to Nowhere special features.

Miller confirmed earlier this year that Furiosa will, like Mad Max: Fury Road, be getting a black & white (or black & chrome) release on home video. The folks at Coming Soon were able to find out that a Furiosa Black & Chrome Edition will be available sometime “later this year” and will include an introduction by Miller.

Writer/director Lindsey Anderson Beer’s Pet Sematary prequel Pet Sematary: Bloodlines was made specifically for the Paramount+ streaming service, but now it has been announced that Paramount is going to be doing something I wish streaming services would do much more often: while continuing to stream the movie, they will also be giving it a digital, 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD release! The digital version will be available for rent or purchase as of December 5th, with the physical media release following on December 19th.

Said to be “based on an untold chapter penned by Stephen King“, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines centers on a young Jud Crandall in 1969, who has dreams of leaving his hometown behind but soon discovers sinister secrets buried within and is forced to confront a dark family history that will forever keep him connected to the town. Banding together, Jud and his childhood friends must fight an ancient evil that has gripped Ludlow since its founding and, once unearthed, has the power to destroy everything in its path.

The film stars Jackson White (Tell Me Lies), Forrest Goodluck (The Revenant), Jack Mulhern (Mare of Easttown), Henry Thomas (The Haunting of Hill House), Natalie Alyn Lind (The Goldbergs), Isabella Star LaBlanc (True Detective: Night Country), Samantha Mathis (The Thing Called Love), Pam Grier (Jackie Brown), and David Duchovny (The X-Files).

Lindsey Anderson Beer directed Pet Sematary: Bloodlines from a screenplay she crafted with Jeff Buhler, who was also a writer on the 2019 version of Pet Sematary. The film was produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian.

Jud Crandall was an elderly man played by Fred Gwynne in the 1989 version of Pet Sematary (watch it HERE) and by John Lithgow in the 2019 movie (watch that one HERE).

Ever since Prey, the latest entry in the Predator franchise, was released through the Hulu streaming service last August, fans who collect physical media have been anxiously waiting to hear if or when the movie would be receiving a physical media release. Now it has been officially announced that Prey is finally going to reach 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD on October 3rd! All formats will include a full-length Comanche audio track. A collector’s edition 4K steelbook with artwork designed by Attila Szarka will be available exclusively at Best Buy.

The Digital Bits reports that the Blu-ray edition of Prey will have the following bonus features:
