In the Fire: Amber Heard thriller gets theatrical and digital release in October

Saban Films has announced that they will be releasing the thriller In the Fire, starring Aquaman‘s Amber Heard, on Friday, October 13th – and the movie will be receiving theatrical, digital, and VOD releases all on the same date. So some viewers can choose to see the film on the big screen while others watch it at home. We don’t have a trailer for In the Fire just yet, but we do have an image of Heard’s character, and you can take a look at that at the bottom of this article.

Directed by Conor Allyn, who also wrote the screenplay with Pascal Borno and Silvio Muraglia, In the Fire has the following synopsis: A doctor from New York travels to a remote plantation in the 1890s to care for a disturbed boy who seems to have inexplicable abilities. She begins treating the child, but in doing so ignites a war of science versus religion with the local priest who believes the boy is possessed by the Devil and is the reason for all the village’s woes.

Filming on this project took place in both Guatemala and Italy. Heard was joined in the cast by Eduardo Noriega (Thesis), Lorenzo McGovern Zaini (The Good Witch of Christmas), newcomer Sophie Cannell, Luca Calvani (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.), and Yari Gugliucci (Tomato Soup in Skid Row).

Monika Bacardi, Pascal Borno, Alain Gillissen, and Andrea Iervolino produced In the Fire, with Allyn serving as an executive producer alongside Harry Finkel, Danielle Maloni, and Andrea Zoso.

Allyn’s previous directing credits include Red and White II: Blood of Eagles, Red and White III: Hearts of Freedom, Java Heat, Zoe Gone, Pocket Listing, Abducted, Forsaken, ExPatriot, Overexposed, No Man’s Land, and Walk. Ride. Rodeo.

Speaking with Variety, Heard described In the Fire as “a meditation on the almost supernatural powers of love told through a strong-willed and independent woman at the turn of the 20th century.

Allyn said he hopes In the Fire will be the first step in a “mega-comeback” for Heard, adding, “When Amber showed up in Italy to shoot, she was a force to be reckoned with. She was a star who was amazing in front of the camera, but also was a partner in crime behind the camera. Once we started shooting, it was from Day One a comfort blanket to have her there. I knew I could point the camera at her, and I would get something good.
