The Amazon series Good Omens covered the events of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s novel Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter (buy a copy HERE) in the six episode first season – and now a second season that goes beyond the events of the book has been given a July premiere date! It has been confirmed that Good Omens season 2 will be available to watch on the Prime Video streaming service as of July 28th.
Gaiman has written the new episodes of Good Omens with John Finnemore. Douglas Mackinnon, who directed the previous six episodes, directed the new six as well. Mackinnon is also an executive producer and co-showrunner with Gaiman. Finnemore is another executive producer, as are Rob Wilkins and BBC Studios Productions’ Head of Comedy Josh Cole. The series is produced by Amazon Studios, BBC Studios Productions, The Blank Corporation, and Narrativia.
Michael Sheen and David Tennant reprise the roles of “Aziraphale, a fussy angel and rare book dealer, and the fast-living demon Crowley, an unlikely duo that teamed up to save the world from the apocalypse”. They are joined by returning cast members Jon Hamm as Archangel Gabriel, Doon Mackichan as Archangel Michael, and Gloria Obianyo as Archangel Uriel, with Good Omens newcomers Miranda Richardson as the demon Shax, Maggie Service as Maggie, Nina Sosanya as Nina, Liz Carr as angel Saraqael, Quelin Sepulveda as angel Muriel, and Shelley Conn as the demon Beelzebub.
Here’s the set-up for Good Omens season 2: Having been on Earth since The Beginning and with the Apocalypse thwarted, Aziraphale and Crowley are getting back to easy living amongst mortals in London’s Soho when an unexpected messenger presents a surprising mystery.
A press release notes that Gaiman “collaborated with superfans Hilly & Hannah Hindi of the The Hillywood Show to reveal the Good Omens season 2 premiere date in a fan-funded video, Good Omens Parody, which can be viewed HERE.”
