The Free Movie of the Day we have to share with you today is the 2016 Malaysian production Interchange, directed by Dain Said. Scripted by Dain Said, Redza Minhat, Nandita Solomon, and June Tan, Interchange has the following synopsis: Haunted by somber visions, forensics photographer Adam retreats from the world, staying home and taking photos of his neighbors until he is dragged into another investigation by his best friend, the detective Man, who asks his help to solve a series of macabre ritual murders. At the same time, Adam’s seemingly innocuous pastime soon turns darker when he spies Iva, a young woman from Borneo. Smitten by her, he is soon entangled in her web of mystery and murder. As Adam is dragged further into Iva’s tribal world and Man delves deeper into his investigation, they discover the city’s mystical underground of shamans and supernatural beings.
The film stars Iedil Dzuhrie Alaudin (or Iedil Putra), Prisia Nasution, Shaheizy Sam, Nicholas Saputra, Kin Wah Chew, Nadiya Nissa, and Alvin Wong. Putra, who plays Adam, and Nasution, who plays Iva, were dating during the filming of this movie and were married by the time it was released.
Dain Said’s other directing credits include the 2011 action movie Bunohan: Return to Murder, the 2018 horror film Dukun, the 2019 TV movie drama Iman Untuk Bulan, and the horror film Blood Flower, which just started making the festival rounds a few months ago.
