Amber Road trailer: Tom Sizemore stars in gory horror movie with January release date

Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan), Elissa Dowling (Girl on the Third Floor), Rachel Riley (Giantess Attack vs. Mecha Fembot), William McNamara (Copycat), Janet Wang (Arena Wars), Robert LaSardo (The Mule), Vernon Wells (Commando), Vincent M. Ward (The Walking Dead), Hans Hernke (Night of the Tommyknockers), and Mike Ferguson (Amityville Uprising) star in the upcoming horror film Amber Road, which is said to deliver so much gore that it’s being referred to as “splatter-core”. Coming to us from Koa Aloha Media, the film is currently streaming exclusively on AlohaStream and will be reaching DVD and Blu-ray on January 10th. (Pre-order a copy HERE). A VOD release will follow on January 30th.

Made on a budget estimated to be around $60,000, Amber Road has “drawn comparisons to Saw, Terrifier, and Hostel for its up-close and personal horror.” It promises to deliver a complex story while also showing off plenty of close-up gore.

After a screening of the film at the Culver City Film Festival, Hernke said, “My friend had to look away numerous times due to the violence on the screen. She was very impressed with Rachel Riley’s acting, for the twisted character she portrayed.” Wang added: “All my scenes were torture gore scenes. And if you love practical effects as much as I do, you’d understand why I peed myself.”

Actor Lejon Stewart (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) isn’t in the cast, but he did have something to say about the movie after the screening, saying that he “enjoyed and [was] tortured by it. It’s the kind of movie that makes you think. For the rest of my life, I will think of some of the issues that this movie speaks to.”

Amber Road tells two parallel stories – one revolving around Emma (Dowling), a deputy sheriff entrenched in the mystery around her husband’s murder; and the other focused on Pauline (Riley) who tortures a husband (McNamara) and wife (Wang) in a basement dungeon. Ultimately, the two stories converge an unravel the mystery.

The film was written and directed by B. Luciano Barsuglia, who provided the following statement: “If you’re a fan of the genre, there is plenty of small space and close-up horror, and we think the payoff is worthwhile.”
