Today’s Free Movie of the Day is the occult horror film The Castle, which just got a theatrical release in South Africa earlier this year. Written and directed by Arish Sirkissoon, The Castle has the following synopsis:
On their wedding day Michael and Catherine break down in the middle of nowhere. They walk for several kilometers when they discover an old castle. Against her better judgement Catherine is convinced by Michael to spend the night. Once she enters the castle she feels like something is watching her. What she discovers in the castle will change her life forever. Will she leave this place alive?
The film stars Tevin Kunene, Sanjay Laljith, Shivaan Moodley, Rio Notra, Khushi Parekh, Shezi Sibongiseni, and Raj Singh.
The Castle was the feature directorial debut of Sirkissoon, who previously produced the horror films The Curse of Highway Sheila and Tokoloshe: An African Curse, as well as the comedy Broken Promises 4-Ever. Sirkissoon also composed the scores for The Castle, The Curse of Highway Sheila, and Tokoloshe: An African Curse. The filmmaker is now in pre-production on another feature, a romance called Love Has No Boundaries.
