Spooky season is upon us, and Netflix is pulling out all the stops. Not only is the highly-anticipated Addams Family spin-off, Wednesday, coming out, but, on October 13th, Netflix is unveiling their star-packed new Ryan Murphy show, The Watcher. The series stars Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale and is based on the infamous “Watcher House” from New Jersey. If you don’t know the true story, it’s a terrifying little tale, and indeed, the show looks pretty creepy. Here’s the synopsis:
After the Brannock family moves into what was supposed to be their suburban dream home, it quickly becomes a living hell. Ominous letters from someone calling themself “The Watcher” are just the beginning as the neighborhood’s sinister secrets come spilling out.
Also spooky, but in a different way, is Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Pinocchio movie. A far cry from the recent Robert Zemeckis remake, this one is stop-motion and set in 1930’s Italy amid Mussolini’s fascist reign. Ewan McGregor (as “Sebastian” J. Cricket), David Bradley (Geppetto), Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, Cate Blanchett, Finn Wolfhard and Gregory Mann (as Pinocchio) lead the voice cast. Check out a brand-new BTS featurette from the highly anticipated movie below.
Sadly, this one won’t be out in time for Halloween. Netflix clearly knows they’ve got a potentially awards-worthy movie on their hands, so they’re giving this one a Thanksgiving theatrical release date following its London Film Festival premiere in October, with it set to start streaming on December 9th.
Are you looking forward to The Watcher, or is Pinocchio more your thing? Let us know in the comments!
