WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Thor #22, by Donny Cates, Nic Klein, Matt Wilson and VC's Joe Sabino, now on sale from Marvel Comics.
Thor's world was just Ragna-rocked by a major character's death.
Part Four of the "God of Hammers" story arc sees Thor and Odin dealing with the personified Mjolnir, who's been possessed by the Mangog. Even with the help of Avengers like Captain America, Iron Man and Doctor Strange, however, the battle takes a massive toll -- one that leaves Odin dying.
In his final act, Odin imbues his son with the full Odin Force, giving the God of Thunder a massive power upgrade in the process.
As Marvel fans know, Odin dying hardly means he's gone for good, as he's died numerous times in the past, including at the hands of the Mangog once before in the 1970s. Still, it's no less earth-shattering for Thor, who'll likely be dealing with the ramifications of his father's sacrifice once he settles the score with Mjolnir.
Thor #22 is written by Donny Cates, illustrated by Nic Klein, colored by Matt Wilson and features letters and designs by VC's Joe Sabino, a main cover by Klein and variant covers by David Talaski and Marc Aspinall. The issue is on sale now from Marvel Comics.
