Following the season finale of Peacemaker, showrunner James Gunn has released a gag real full of quips, forgotten lines, dancing and more.
On Twitter, Gunn wrote, "Have a great President's Day weekend. Here's a gift from Team Peacemaker - the official #Peacemaker gag reel." The message was accompanied by a nearly 10 minute video chock full of the cast's hilarious on-set blunders, jokes and hijinks, with each of the series' stars -- from John Cena to Danielle Brooks -- having their fair share. For about the last two minutes, viewers are treated to a montage of quick bloopers while Hardcore Superstar's "You Can't Kill My Rock 'N Roll" blasts in the background.
Peacemaker is the first HBO Max series to be set in the main DC Extended Universe, which includes other films like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Aquaman (2018) and The Suicide Squad (2021), the movie that the show spun directly out of. The series saw Christopher Smith aka Peacemaker (John Cena) join a group of agents and a wacky Vigilante (Freddie Stroma) to take on an alien invasion. Throughout the series, Smith makes offensive joke after joke about DC's heroes, which culminated in a massive cameo during the season finale.
The series has been received positively by fans, with the finale, "It's Cow or Never," becoming the most viewed episode of an HBO Max series to date. Before the series even debuted, writer/director/showrunner Gunn was hopeful that it would get a second season. Ahead of the finale's release, it was announced that a second season of Peacemaker has been greenlit. Gunn expressed its appreciation for everyone who made the renewal possible, writing on Twitter, "Thanks to Peter Safran, [John Cena], our incredible cast & crew, our wildly supportive & lovely friends at [HBO Max] - and mostly all of you for watching!"
While there is no word on when exactly fans will be getting Peacemaker Season 2, Gunn is currently hard at work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, the aforementioned finale cameos were actually shot on the set of Vol. 3, a project which will feature Peacemaker actor Chukwudi Iwuji in an undisclosed role. Gunn currently has another project in development with DC, which will be connected to The Suicide Squad as well, but feature a less comedic tone than Peacemaker.
The next live-action DC project set to release is The Batman starring Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright and more. The film will release exclusively in theaters on March 4.
