10 Strongest Bleach Characters Who Still Can't Beat Goku | CBR

Bleach fans have wanted to see the final arc in animated form for years, and they will finally get their wish later this year. It may have never been as popular as One Piece or Narutobut Bleach was still considered to be one of the most popular anime and manga series in the world. It mainly focuses on different factions of spiritual beings who fight each other, and they all have unique powers.

Goku is the iconic main character of the Dragon Ball series and unlike any other shonen protagonist. Most fans believe that Goku is the strongest character in all of anime, especially now that he can use Ultra Instinct. Bleach has a lot of strong characters, but many of them are nowhere close to beating Goku.

10 Ikkaku Would Never Be Able To Cut Goku

Goku has learned a great deal from Whis, including how to use Ultra Instinct — which is a transformation that even Gods of Destruction have a hard time mastering. Even without Ultra Instinct, Goku would be able to beat Ikkaku as if he were an ordinary Soul Reaper.

Ikkaku is a pure melee fighter, and his shikai turns his zanpakuto into a spear that can split into three pieces that are all connected through a chain. He is able to use bankai as well, and his zanpakuto transforms into a giant monk spade, axe blade, and spear tip. Goku would shatter all of Ikkaku's weapons without breaking a sweat.

9 Goku Would Easily Destroy Renji's Shikai & Bankai

Renji may be a lieutenant, but he is capable of taking on powerful Arrancar and Quincy. When he uses his shikai, his zanpakuto transforms into a segmented blade with pick-like protrusions, and the blade can extend to considerable lengths. This shikai has no chance of hurting Goku, and the Saiyan can break it with one hand.

When Renji uses his bankai, his zanpakuto transforms into a massive skeletal snake that can release explosive spiritual energy. In its final form, the bankai can pierce through a target and fire a blast that can turn them to ash. Goku doesn't need to worry about this because he can easily snap the bankai's blade with his hands.

8 The Offensive & Defensive Aspects Of Byakuya's Bankai Would Be Useless

A number of Bleach's characters have changed significantly since the beginning of the series, including Byakuya Kuchiki. The Captain of Squad 6 is one of the fastest characters in the series, and his bankai is truly menacing.

Upon activation, Byakuya's zanpakuto creates thousands of swords which scatter into countless smaller blades that resemble cherry blossom petals. He can use these blades to block attacks, but they would all be destroyed by a kamehameha. Byakuya could try surrounding Goku with his blades, but Goku would just use his god-level speed to outrun them all.

7 Komamura's Bankai Would Be Child's Play For Goku

Captain Komamura possesses a great deal of physical strength, and his body is incredibly durable. He uses his bankai every chance he gets, which is understandable seeing as it creates an armored giant with a massive sword.

The giant mimics Komamura's movements, but given its size, its attacks slow enough where Goku can easily avoid them. The one flaw with this bankai is the fact that Komamura sustains any damage that the giant receives. Goku can obliterate the bankai with his fists or with ki blasts, and Komamura would suffer the same fate.

6 Ukitake's Sword Would Be Completely Useless Against Goku

Captain Ukitake gets ill quite often, but that has not stopped him from being a powerful and well-respected Soul Reaper. He wields one of the only dual-blade zanpakuto. When he activates his shikai, the sword transforms into a pair of blades that are connected by a rope-like chain. There are silver metal square charms along the chain.

Ukitake can absorb an opponent's energy attack with one blade, and fire it back at them with the other. The energy passes through each charm, which increases the attack's speed and pressure. Unfortunately, none of Goku's energy attacks are spiritual in nature, so Ukitake wouldn't be able to stop a kamehameha heading his way.

5 Harribel's Resurrección Would Do Nothing But Make Goku Wet

As the 3rd Espada and the only confirmed Vasto Lorde Arrancar, Tier Harribel is one of the strongest Hollows in Bleach. Like her fellow Arrancar, Harribel gains a major power spike when she releases her resurrección, but she also gains the ability to manipulate water.

She can create large quantities of water thanks to the gill markings on her massive shark tooth-shaped sword, and the sword itself has impressive cutting power. These water-based attacks would do nothing to Goku except make him wet, and he can shatter the sword with a single punch.

4 Starrk Can't Beat Goku With Cero's & Explosions

Starrk wandered Hueco Mundo alone for a long time because his very presence killed any lesser Hollow he came across. This puts him in the running to be one of the loneliest villains in anime. He is basically a cero machine, and when he releases his resurrección, he gains a pair of pistols that can fire a barrage of ceros at an enemy.

Starrk can also split his soul into wolf spirits that explode when they bite their target. These explosions may scratch Goku, but other than that they won't cause him much trouble. Goku can easily avoid Starrk's ceros with his speed, especially if he is using Ultra Instinct.

3 Ulquiorra May Have A Second Form, But It's Nothing Special

There are several anime villains who simply let the hero win, Ulquiorra included. Ulquiorra may have been the 4th Espada, but he was the only Arrancar who possessed a second release, which gave him an incredible power spike.

While in his Segunda Etapa form, Ulquiorra can regenerate most non-lethal injuries within seconds and create a javelin-like weapon with his spiritual energy. This weapon is capable of causing large-scale destruction. Thanks to Ultra Instinct though, Goku can dodge the javelin with ease, and Ulquiorra's vital organs wouldn't be able to regenerate if Goku's punches destroy the Espada's insides.

2 Even With His Bankai, Kenpachi Can't Take Down Goku

Kenpachi Zaraki loves to fight and prefers to kill his opponents. With that said, he is an anime hero who certainly follows a code of honor. It took a while, but Kenpachi finally learned his zanpakuto's name in Bleach's final arc, and its shikai is a massive cleaver with tremendous cutting power.

Kenpachi's bankai doesn't have a name yet, but it turns Kenpachi into a red-skinned oni, and the cleaver changes shape while becoming much smaller. He is mindless while in this form and can cut through almost anything; however, a mindless opponent has no chance of landing a hit on Goku when he has Ultra Instinct active.

1 All Ichigo Really Has Is His Getsuga Tensho

Ichigo is Bleach's main character and especially unique because he possesses Soul Reaper, Hollow, and Quincy powers. He's had a number of transformations, but at the end of the day, his zanpakuto's Getsuga Tensho gets the job done.

Even with his bankai, his Hollowfication, and the enhanced defense offered by his Quincy Blut, Goku has enough physical strength to knock Ichigo out with one hit. Ichigo is weaker than Vegeta to begin with, so there's no way he stands a chance against Goku.
