(SPOT.ph) Full of deep, umami flavor coupled with a subtle sweetness and smokiness that makes each bite sing, Mendokoro Ramen's chashu is a fan favorite for good reason. You've likely had it atop their famous Super Chashu Ramen, but it's also the kind of meat that totally shines in other applications. If you've ever dreamed of having it in a handheld treat with plenty of Japanese flair to boot, you're in for a treat: The ramen establishment has partnered up with no other than bread and pastry shop Kumori to come up with the Melon Chashu Bun, which is coming very soon and will be available for a limited time!

By no means your average pork sandwich, the Melon Chashu Bun (P199/piece, P575/box of three) brings together two of the famous shops' signatures. We're talking the melon pan from Kumori, which has a soft bread base and a sweet-nutty cookie crust topped with sesame seeds; and the chashu from Mendokoro, which is double-marinated and glazed with their signature yakitori sauce! With a homemade mustard sauce, lettuce, and onions joining in the party, you get a sweet-savory-smoky mix lent a subtle crispness and zip to keep you coming back for more bites.
Can't wait to try it? This special sandwich launches tomorrow, November 12. You can order from Mendokoro Ramenba's branches in Makati, BGC, and Alabang; you can also catch their food trucks as they pop up in different parts of the Metro on weekends (we'll keep you posted, of course) or visit their online store. Alternatively, you can also get your fix at selected branches of Kumori (namely their SM Fairview, SM North Edsa, UP Town Center, Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Manila, Landmark Makati, SM Makati, SM Mall of Asia, Ayala Malls Manila Bay, Festival Mall Alabang, SM Bacoor, and SM Santa Rosa stores); through Kumori's website; or by finding Kumori on GrabFood, Foodpanda, or Metromart.
Mendokoro Ramenba is a ramen joint from the folks behind fellow ramen restaurant Yushoken. They opened their first branch in Makati in 2014 and have commanded long lines ever since!
Meanwhile, Kumori is a Japanese-style bakeshop that came to the Philippines in 2015, baking up Japanese breads and pastries fresh every day. Among their signatures are the Hanjuku Cheese, or fluffy and molten Japanese-style cheesecakes, as well as the Premium Cheese Loaf.
Mendokoro Ramenba has branches at V. Corporate Center, Soliman Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City and Molito Commercial Complex, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. See a list of Mendokoro Ramenba branches.
