(SPOT.ph) Less than three weeks after Cambodia’s government said they are reopening the country in phases beginning November 30, Prime Minister Hun Sen made an unexpected announcement on Monday: fully vaccinated travelers can visit anywhere in the country starting November 15. The two-week quarantine requirement is also waived as long as tourists show proof of vaccination and test negative for COVID-19 during a rapid test upon arrival.

Hun Sen's decision effectively overrides the country's reopening plan of only welcoming tourists in the seaside provinces of Sihanoukville and Koh Kong. Siem Reap, which is famous for its temples, was originally to be added to the quarantine-free province list in January.
"When they arrive and we see they have received two doses of vaccine, we will take swabs for rapid tests. After results show they are free of COVID-19, they are allowed to travel across Cambodia," Hun Sen said in an audio message posted on his Facebook page. Unvaccinated travelers, on the other hand, will still have to quarantine for 14 days.
List of Cambodia travel requirements, according to Prime Minister Hun Sen:
- negative RT-PCR (swab) test results taken 72 hours prior to travel
- rapid test upon arrival
- proof of vaccination
Since August 2020, Cambodia is requiring all foreign travelers to present a certificate of purchase of health insurance for COVID-19 treatment from FORTE insurance. Coverage for this policy is at U.S. $50,000 and is valid only in Cambodia.
