(SPOT.ph) Netflix has been bringing back a slew of the OG anime and manga that made our childhoods—in live action, that is (whether you're for it or not). The entertainment company recently announced that they're resurrecting another absolute classic, Yu Yu Hakusho, a.k.a.Ghost Fighter, live-action style! Mark your calendars because the series will arrive in December 2023.

Netflix Announces a Ghost Fighter Live-Action Series

The live-action series was announced by Netflix Geeked on Twitter on November 9. Details are very scarce as of the moment. Still, this announcement comes just a few days before the arrival of another much-hyped live-action anime remake, Cowboy Bebop on November 19! Looks like this one will definitely set the tone for what to expect with the new Ghost Fighter series.

Now we don't know how a live-action remake will stand up to the version we Pinoys know best: the dubbed one. For the uninitiated, the Ghost Fighter series of the '90s is what gave us lines like "Tapusin! Tapusin! Tapusin!" or the very #hugot "Nagkamali ako para umasa sayo nang malaki. Hindi sulit na ibigay sa’yo ang 100% ng aking kapangyarihan." It follows Yusuke Urameshi (a.k.a. Eugene) as he atones for his sins in the afterworld by becoming a supernatural detective—using his immediately recognizable signature rei gun (or "Spirit Gun").

The announcement was part of the Netflix Festival Japan 2021. Netflix said in a statement that the series will be based on the OG Shonen Jump manga by Yoshihiro Togashi.
