We Tried the Trending White Rabbit Ice-Cream Bars and Here's What We Think

(SPOT.ph) White Rabbit fans, raise your hands if you freaked out when word spread about White Rabbit Ice Cream Bars being a thing! White Rabbit, after all, is an ultra-nostalgic candy, whose mellow milky flavor brings likely takes you back to the easier days of your childhood. So the thought of that flavor in cool, handheld ice-cream bar form definitely had us drooling! We managed to score a few bars from local seller Chill'd MNL, who says they taste just like the real thing; and we had to find out: Do they live up to their promise?

So, do they actually taste like White Rabbit?

We tried the trending White Rabbit Ice Cream Bar and here's our verdict:

These bars actually hail from China, released by Shanghai Guan Sheng Yuan Food Ltd. in collaboration with Bright Dairy & Food Co. Ltd. Shanghai Guan Sheng Yuan Food Ltd., ICYDK, happens to be the very company that manufactures the original White Rabbit candies—so if there's anyone who knows how to replicate its signature taste, it's definitely them!

We were definitely drawn in from the packaging alone, as the White Rabbit Ice-Cream bars feature a cool retro look to them with a white-blue-red motif similar to the O.G. candy's packaging. The ice-cream bar within is on the plain side appearance-wise, being plain and white in color and cylindrical in shape—which amusingly resembles a giant version of the original candy with a popsicle stick.

You'll immediately notice that there's no rice paper to be had on this one, which is unfortunate as we'd argue that it's part and parcel of the White Rabbit consumption experience. But other than that, these ice cream bars are basically a dream. Firstly, even while they're frozen solid, they're not too icy or lean; you can bite into them without it hurting your molars (at least not too much), and there's a slightly gummy chew to them which is somewhat reminiscent of the candies.

They melt smooth on the tongue, too, pretty much enveloping your mouth with the telltale flavor of milk with a hint of sweetness—think less-sugary condensed milk. It also ends on a just-rich-enough note—the kind that feels decadent for sure, but still overall refreshing, and not too fatty that you're left overwhelmed. Consider us obsessed.

Locally, the White Rabbit Ice Cream Bars are available through online seller Chill'd MNL, who sells them for P350 for a bundle of five—though as of writing, the bars have sold out. Give them a follow on their social media pages to be alerted when they're available; from there, you can message them for orders and pay via bank depost (BPI or BDO) or GCash.
