(SPOT.ph) France is home to some of the best baked goods around, and croissants—the crescent-shaped bread-slash-pastry of Viennese origins, known for its flaky character and decidedly buttery flavor—is arguably one of their most crave-worthy icons. And while a trip to the French republic isn’t quite realistic for most of us now, what’s great is that we’ve got plenty of superb versions of croissants in Manila! Though many of these come via small, independent sellers that call for preordering in advance, we get it: Sometimes the craving strikes hard and you need to get your croissants now. We’ve got you covered: Here, we round up restaurants and shops that make great croissants you can easily order on demand through delivery apps like GrabFood and Foodpanda.

The Coffee Academics
This coffee shop from Hong Kong that recently opened in BGC takes pride in its specialty coffee; but don’t overlook their croissants, which they make from scratch and in-house using French flour and, of course, butter. The Classic (P155) gives you a soft and flaky bite, and the Chocolate (P195) is a no-fail option, but don’t miss the one-of-a-kind Black Coconut Croissant (P180), which is filled with a lush coconut pastry cream for a tropical twist on the French pastry.

Eric Kayser
You can count on a bakeshop that hails from France to deliver on great croissants—and true enough, Eric Kayser gives you just that. They make theirs with a natural liquid leaven and French butter, resulting in a flaky-meets-airy bread with the taste of butter lingering through and through. You can’t go wrong with the basic Croissant (P90), but the Chocolate (P115), Ube (P125), and Ham & Cheese (P195) versions are excellent too.

Dean and Deluca
In New York—where it originates—Dean and Deluca is known as an upscale grocery. Here in the Philippines, its local outpost is known for their sweet and savory meals and wide selection of pastries. That includes their Butter Croissant (P150), which lives up to their name with its rich, resounding buttery flavor and golden-brown exterior. You can also get it with Butter & Jam (P275), Cream Cheese & Jam (P340), or Ham & Cheese (P300).

PAUL Boulangerie
PAUL Boulangerie is a bakery chain from France that serves great renditions of popular French breads and pastries—croissants, of course, included. You can go for their basic, buttery Croissant (P90) or try it in one of their croissant sandwiches; take your pick from fillings like the Egg Mayo (P230), Shrimp (P260), or Ham & Cheese (P200).

Wildflour
Wildflour does a lot of things really well, from savory eats to desserts. Their light-in-texture, rich-in-flavor croissants are also not to be missed! The plain Croissant (P114) makes for a great pair to your morning cup of joe, but they also make versions with Chocolate (P138), Lemon Curd (P180), and even Ube (P216) if you’re after more bittersweet, tangy, or nutty bites respectively. If you really can’t get enough of the famously flaky pastry, they also make a full-sized Croissant Loaf (P276) that’s great served as thick slices and toasted.

Starbucks
Sure, you go to Starbucks for their coffee, but they’re a reliable choice for great-tasting and fairly priced baked goods, too. And what better pair to their signature drinks than their airy yet flaky French Butter Croissant (P105)? You can also try the version stuffed with Ham & Cheese (P150) if you’re in a savory mood. Plus points to the coffee chain for having branches in just about every corner of the Metro—most of which are open until late at night!

Lartizan
Lartizan is one of the OGs of the French baked goods scene in the Philippines, having been established in 2007—and they remain a reliable fave to this day. As far as croissants go, they’ve got everything from the golden-brown Plain Butter Croissant (P99) to its Almond (P149), Spinach and Feta (P187), and Ham and Cheese (P110) counterparts! Pro tip: Their Serendra branch opens as early as 8 a.m., in case you’re looking to get your croissant fix for breakfast.

Baker J
Crimson Alabang’s resident French eatery makes more than just excellent brunch fare; their croissants are some of the most swoon-worthy we’ve tried for their crisp-on-the-outside, flaky-on-the-inside texture and full-on buttery flavor! Go for the basic Croissant (P90) if you like it simple, or the Pain au Chocolat (P90) if you like your pastries with a melty and bittersweet edge. There’s also the Almond Croissant (P90) that any and all fans of French pastries will go nuts for (get it?).

Sift by Laureana
This “neighborhood café” in McKinley Hills is more than just a place to get great local coffee. You’ll also want to save space for their croissants, which they bake fresh every day! And while their Plain (P120) and Chocolate (P145) croissants are crisp and flaky masterpieces in their own right, you also don’t want to miss the Salted Egg Croissant (P200) that turns the classic French pastry on its head and gives it a more distinctly Asian twist.

Workshop
It’s all about creative bakes at Workshop at The Grid, but they execute their classics with great precision, too. Beyond their towering 17-layer cakes is their line of Croissants, which they bake fresh for a warm, light, buttery bite! The Classic Croissant (P135) is a topnotch rendition of one, but for a more playful and modern treat you can go for the cheesy Tuna Melt (P215) or sweet-umami Pork Floss (P165) versions.
