(SPOT.ph) It is practically impossible to run out of stuff to stream—but very likely you've checked out the different platforms available in the Philippines in search of "The One." If you're still on the hunt for the streaming platform to commit to, we make things a little easier by checking one out for you! discovery+ has launched in the Philippines and as one of the newest platforms available locally, we had to go ahead and give it a try. Below, we discuss the subscription plans (i.e. prices), what titles you can stream, and whether the streaming platform is easy to use or not.

We tried out the discovery+ streaming platform. Here's how it went:
Subscription Plans
So first things first: Money. You can subscribe to discovery+ on either a monthly or an annual basis. The first will cut you back P129 a month while the second will cost P999 a year. Discovery+ has a promo as off writing that cuts down an annual subscription to P129! This one will be available until November 12. An account will give you access to stream on any four screens at once. You can also make several profiles under one account. And nope, no downloading or offline mode are available as of writing. Parental control options are also nil.
Available Titles
Alright, so remember watching Cable TV? Yup, this platform carries shows from some of your old fave channels. Discovery+ launched with more than 20,000 episodes worth of content from channels such as Discovery Channel, TLC, HGTV, Investigation Discovery, Food Network, Magnolia Network, Travel Channel, Animal Planet, Asian Food Network, History Channel, and the BBC's natural history programs.
The platform also says that there are around 100 discovery+ originals available exclusively. New titles drop every week too.
A quick scroll through the homepage shows popular titles from reality TV or documentary programs such as Dr. Pimple Popper, Naked and Afraid, Pawn Stars, How It's Made, and even the late Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. Plus, we can't miss out on the 90 Day Journey series that dropped the now meme-popular "Ed & Rose episode."
The shows are arranged both by channels and kinds. You can browse either through your fave channels or through categories (e.g. relationships, lifestyle, true crime, paranormal, nature, paranormal, food, and more). And yup, they even have a special section for Filipino content on their homepage. Cue that visit Bourdain made in No Reservations!
Interface
The streaming platform looks pretty similar across different devices of course; there aren't too many fancy widgets or lists on this one just yet. Sidenote: the browser version was reliable when we tried but the platform recommends downloading the app. There's a home page and browsing page where you can do that thing where you just keep on scrolling—IYKYK—plus pages to easily handle your account and library.
The player itself is pretty basic but reliable (though your ISP will certainly affect that factor). It seems you can't adjust the quality nor the speed of what you're watching but no real complaints here!
Verdict: It all boils down to whether or not the discovery+ selection is what you're into! It is definitely a sign of the times seeing our old cable-channel shows on streaming (combined with hundreds of new content). In terms of whether the price is good—especially that one-year promo they have—for the number and quality of titles to stream, plus of course the platform itself, discovery+ definitely gets the worth-it badge from us.
The discovery+ app is available on Android and iOS. For more information, visit the discovery+ site.
