(SPOT.ph) Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Monday, October 11 clarified that the new rule for shortened quarantine period covers those who started quarantine on October 8. This protocol applies to fully vaccinated travelers arriving to the Philippines from green- and yellow-list countries.

What you should know about shortened quarantine periods for international arrivals:

"What will happen to those who already started quarantine before October 8? Good news because the IATF issued a resolution making this shortened quarantine period retroactive," he said.

According to Roque, this means that inbound travelers who are already on the sixth day of quarantine right now should already have their RT-PCR test results. "If that test yelds a negative result, you can finish the rest of the quarantine at home," he added.

On the other hand, unvaccinated travelers from green- and yellow-listed countries can have a shorter quarantine period of seven days with an RT-PCR test on the seventh day.

The Philippines adopted the new Red-Yellow-Green system for international arrivals in September. Red means that the origin country has high risk for COVID-19, while Green is the least risky.
