(SPOT.ph) Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro is a popular weekend getaway option given its proximity to Metro Manila. It's easily accessible by public bus and ferry, has a whole strip of budget hotels and resorts, and filled with no-frills bars and restaurants. This beach destination reopened to local travelers on Wednesday, October 27, with fully vaccinated individuals given the green light to enter without having to present COVID-19 test results.

Unvaccinated travelers, on the other hand, are required to take a rapid antigen test. This is given free of charge by the Puerto Galera Molecular Laboratory at the Batangas City Grand Terminal, where people ride the ferry going to Oriental Mindoro. According to Mayor Rocky Ilagan on October 25, this will help increase tourist arrival in their province and make the operation of public ferries more sustainable. - Fully vaccinated travelers need to present their vaccination cards.
- Unvaccinated travelers need to undergo a rapid antigen test, which is given free of charge in Batangas port on the way to Puerto Galera.
