Twitter is considering allowing users to archive old tweets after a given period of time, Bloomberg reported, one of possible new features that are meant to give users more control over their privacy.
Citing the concept of "social privacy", which refers to how users self-manage their image or reputation on the platform, Bloomberg said the plan also includes allowing people to decide who can see their follower lists, posts, and likes-an effort to get more comfortable enough to keep tweeting.

Bloomberg spoke of an internal research within the social platform that apparently found how many of Twitter's users have little understanding of the app's privacy basics, such as the fact that their account is publicly visible, which causes them to engage less.
Hiding past tweets is a feature many users could benefit in, as based on the rise of third party tweets-deletion apps throughout the years, people are becoming increasingly concerned about their digital footprints.

"At Twitter, privacy is more than what we do with your data, it's also about how we help you feel safe and in control of how you show up on Twitter," a spokesperson told The Verge, confirming the news.
"We understand that there's no one size fits all approach to privacy, so we're excited to roll out more features and tools to empower people on Twitter to customize their experience," it said, noting it will begin rolling out these features "as early as next week".
