SM Malls Launches 100 Days of Caring and Giving Throughout Outlets Across the Philippines

(SPOT.ph) It’s officially 100 days before Christmas, and if you felt like 2021 went by in a blink, hard same. The pandemic is still very much upon us, so it’s extra important to find ways to practice self-care—and what brings on the good vibes better than knowing you’ve helped someone out? That’s exactly the thought behind SM Malls100 Days of Caring and Giving, launched today, September 16.

The idea is simple: every SM mall around the country pledges to make 100 acts of caring and giving. And with 76 malls around the Philippines, that would add up to a pretty significant amount of help given to people in need. SM Megamall and The Podium, for example, each pledge to provide 100 care packages for delivery riders from Grab, JoyRide, Lalamove, and others. Mall of Asia pledges to give 100 care packages to senior citizens, and SM Aura and Southmall pledge to provide 100 story books and educational books for the kids of SOS Children’s Villages. SM’s provincial and regional malls will be giving to their own respective communities, like fisherfolk in North Luzon, tourism frontliners in Puerto Princesa, and farmers in Davao.

Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat lauded SM Malls' initiative during the launch, as did mental health advocate Dr. Gia Sison, who talked about the benefits that the act of giving can bring—not only for individuals, but for their communities as well.
