(SPOT.ph) Metro Manila on September 16 shifted to Alert Level 4, which runs until September 30. And while this new quarantine scheme requires minors and elders to stay home, those aged 18 to 65 can travel for leisure to areas under General Community Quarantine and Modified GCQ. This includes Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte, which is now open to travelers from the National Capital Region as confirmed by General Luna municipal tourism officer Arcelly Gallentes on Monday, September 20.

Gallentes also told ABS-CBN's Teleradyo that they have imposed a liquor ban and have barred parties and the use of videoke on the island.

"Wala na pong party ngayon dito dahil mahigpit pong ipinagbabawal ito. Ang mga pulis po nagroronda po sila para ma-sure po na walang nagpa-party," he said.

Here are the latest Siargao travel requirements (as of September 1):

  • Negative RT-PCR test result (swab or saliva) with 48 hours prior to arrival (whether fully vaccinated or not)
  • Government-issued ID
  • Confirmed booking of at least two nights from from Department of Tourism-accredited establishment
  • Antigen test after five days from the date of arrival if you're staying longer

The municipality of General Luna also announced on Monday that three barangays are under "micro-granular lockdown" from September 19 to 23. These are barangays Catangnan, Consuelo, and Poblacion, which were identified to have a high number of COVID-19 cases and deaths. The restriction was imposed to regulate movement during the observance of their town fiesta.

During the lockdown, entry of non-residents and visitors to General Luna is not allowed "except for tourists with complete travel documents/requirements."

Non-essential mass gatherings and activities are also prohibited. This includes videoke bars, disco pubs, resto bars, parties, and other outdoor gatherings. The liquor ban is also imposed from September 21 to 22. Curfew hours are from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
