(SPOT.ph) Filipinos have been waiting in anticipation for the official opening of IKEA's first store in the country. No opening date has been announced, though the furniture store has confirmed that the branch should be opening its doors some time in the fourth quarter of 2021. Luckily, IKEA has made the wait pretty eventful by providing their customers with cool opportunities like joining their membership program known as IKEA Family and getting a chance to be on the cover of IKEA Philippines Magazine. And they're not stopping there. Today, September 16, IKEA Philippines launched their worldwide online event known as IKEA Festival, which started at 2.p.m. Philippine time and runs for 24 hours.

The festival, which takes place on IKEA's website and is totally free and open to the public, showcases the furniture retailer's dedication to better living with virtual home tours, cook-offs, concerts, and performances held inside homes all over the globe. "This is a new kind of experience IKEA wants to offer—celebrating, connecting, and engaging around life at home," says Erika Intiso, Managing Director of IKEA marketing and communication. "Home tours around the world will open doors to new experiences and new inspiration. We want to spark a conversation on the more sustainable and affordable life at home of tomorrow."

in line with the celebration, IKEA also launched their very own Pop-Up at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City where visitors can browse some of the stylish furniture, decor, and home essentials that the Swedish store is known for. It will be open from Setpember 16 to 19. The outpost is built to look like a real home with various rooms—including a bedroom, kitchen, dining room, and bathroom—stocked and decorated with IKEA products. Unlike in most furniture displays, visitors will be allowed to try out all the items inside the pop-up—sit on the chairs, inspect the sinks, feel the linens, you get the gist. Take note, however, that the items won't be for sale. Instead of shopping, you can take a look around and get a better idea of what the soon-to-open IKEA store in Metro Manila has to offer!

While the IKEA Pop-Up is currently located in SM Mall of Asia, their Philippine team has noted that the outpost will move to SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City some time in the coming weeks. That means even if the current outpost is a little too far from you, you'll still have a chance to check out the pop-up. No official opening date yet, but we'll keep our eyes peeled!
