(SPOT.ph) As local and international tourism (very) slowly reopens, airlines are excited to welcome back passengers that were forced to skip more than a whole year of travel. Philippine Airlines, the country's flag carrier, is offering a card-free installment system through a "Fly Now, Pay Later" scheme to encourage people to book their flights without having to worry about the cost. This is made possible through a partnership with financial tech company First Digital Finance Corporation, which developed the BillEase mobile app.
“We’re excited to enable customers to book their flights with a hassle-free payment option. Our partnership with Philippine Airlines (PAL) is focused on providing what customers need and delivering a differentiated customer experience for travelers,” Georg Steiger, chief executive officer and co-founder of First Digital Finance Corporation, said in a statement.
BillEase, which is available on Google Play and AppStore, is a flexible alternative to credit cards and e-wallets. The service is card-free ad does not require customes to sign up for a credit or a debit card. All you need is a valid ID to register.
The app also shows the due dates of your installment plan, which can either be short-term (a split payment of 25% as deposit and 75% in three bi-weekly schedule) or long-term (a split payment of 30% upfront and 70% in three, six, nine, or 12 months). Depending on the merchant, this payment scheme can either be interest-free or come with affordable interest rates.
“This latest offering is part of our goal to provide customers a transparent and flexible way to pay. Travelers can now enjoy an installment plan when they’re booking their tickets, removing some of the hassle and added costs of planning a trip during the new normal,” said Oscar Reyes, PAL senior vice president for sales and marketing.
