(SPOT.ph) In 2020, K-Pop boy-band sensation BTS was named Time Magazine's Entertainer of the Year. The announcement was a landmark moment in pop culture and the image of RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook standing confidently in suits with slicked back hair spread across the Internet at a rapid pace. For fans of the band, the image marked an important moment in the group's (and K-Pop's, in general) worldwide takeover. The man behind the image? Korean photographer Mok Jungwook

Known for stunning photographs of wide landscapes and roads as well as dramatic and evocative portraits, Mok's work has made waves in art, design, and photography and the fashion world has taken notice. London-based fashion brand COS—which opened its first Manila branch in June—recently teamed up with the photographer to create a menswear capsule collection inspired by Mok's signature imagery. The campaign photos for the collection were even shot and directed by Mok himself.

"I have spent a long time working as a fashion photographer, continuously studying ways to capture clothes in their essence and the spirit that the designers intended. Seeing my own photography become a part of the collection was very special and a fresh, new experience," said Mok on the collaborative line. COS is known for timeless and versatile styles—their silhouettes exude both polish and effortlessness, resulting in an aesthetic that is both casual and elevated. Their collection with Mok stays true to the brand's fashion philosophy, but incorporates the photographers ethereal images directly onto the clothes.

The collection is composed of a button-down polo, T-shirts, a knitted jumper, an oversized scarf, and tote bags—pieces that most would consider closet staples and fittingly, they stick to simple, wearable silhouettes. Each piece is printed with one of Mok's photographs and against the no-frills clothing, the landscape images take center stage—catching the eye without compromising the pieces' classic colors and silhouettes.

"Mok’s personal works often seek to capture the stillness in everyday surroundings—when we came across his work, we were immediately drawn to the profound quietness conveyed in the imagery," said Cristophe Copin, COS' head of menswear design, on the collection. "The capsule collection is rooted in providing a sense of calmness and ease."
