(SPOT.ph) Amid quarantine restrictions, people are seeing big changes in international travel—from stringent health protocols to airlines dropping certain routes completely. In a travel advisory released by Cathay Pacific on Wednesday, August 25, they announced that they are "(permanently) closing their ticketing office in both Manila and Cebu." This is effective on Tuesday, September 1.

In an online exchange through their official Messenger channel, Cathay Pacific clarified that only the ticketing offices are closing. "We are not limiting our flights from Manila and Cebu. It is only due to the current situation [that] we had to cancel some of the flights."

Tickets can still be purchased through their website or toll-free hotlines (1-800-1110-2720 for PLDT or Smart; 1-800-8909-4024 for Globe) as long as flights and seats are available, they said. As of August 17, Cathay Pacific's list of destinations in the Philippines still includes Manila and a specific route from Hong Kong to Cebu.

Cathay Pacific also temporarily closed their signature lounges outside of Hong Kong, with the exception of Shanghai Pudong International Airport, amid global restrictions in international travel. These include lounges at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and Mactan-Cebu International Airport, where passengers could dine, work, and just relax while waiting for their flight.
