(SPOT.ph) International travel is still taking a back seat for another as the pandemic rages on in the country. But we're manifesting a travel-filled 2022, especially as Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the country is extending visa-free entry for Philippine nationals for another year. This visa policy runs from August 1 to July 31, 2022.

It can be remembered that Taiwan first opened their doors to visa-free travel for Filipinos on November 1, 2017. It was extended annually until the current policy, which is set to expire on July 31. This is part of their efforts to promote the "New Southbound Policy," a program which has since increased international travelers to Taiwan's many tourist destinations.
Like in 2020, the visa-free grant does not take precedence over COVID-19 measures and entry regulations in Taiwan. Tourism and regular social visits are still banned. Foreign nationals visiting Taiwan for non-leisure purposes may apply for a special entry permit, present negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test results issued within three working days, register into the Quarantine System for Entry, and undergo a 14-day quarantine period.
Until leisure travel is allowed again, we shall continue planning our Taiwan itinerary.
