(SPOT.ph) Quezon City is finally pushing for a single contact tracing method across all districts. A new ordinance mandates that all establishments must equip their shops with the KyusiPass application before August 15, they announced online on July 20. This means that there will soon be no more need to manually fill up health declaration forms or end up having to download several different contact tracing apps while out running errands.
Under City Ordinance No. PO21CC-456, establishments in Quezon City must have their own KyusiPass QR codes. This is the code that people coming in can quickly scan to let local government know that they were there.
"Susi para mapigil ang pagkalat ng Delta variant ang pinatinding contact tracing," said Mayor Joy Belmonte in a release.

How to Get the KyusiPass

Both individuals and establishments can get their own KyusiPass QR codes, which is supported by the SafePass system. If you're applying for your own, you can sign up through the SafePass website, SafePass Facebook chatbot, or through SMS. Then you can either print out your QR code or just keep a copy on your phone.
When entering a shop, you can either scan the shop's QR code, or if the establishment has scanning equipment, they can scan yours. Either way, the information will be sent to servers handled by the City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit—which takes note mainly of your name and mobile number.
The KyusiPass system was launched in January 2021. The original goal was to implement the contact tracing program citywide that same month, but it seems not everyone was compliant. "We found out that those bars have KyusiPass at their entrances for display only, but when we tried to contact-trace their customers, their databases were empty," Belmonte noted.
"Such irresponsible behavior renders our contact tracing efforts useless and negatively affects our pandemic response," she added. With the new ordinance in place, they can soon do random checks on establishments to see whether they are complying.
