(SPOT.ph) Boxer Eumir Marcial has secured the Philippines another medal! Marcial knocked out Armenian foe Arman Darchinyan in men’s middleweight quarter-finals on Sunday, August 1 at the Tokyo Olympics—and at just the first round with 49 seconds left. Now that's what we call a heart-stopping win! To make this win even sweeter, this assures Marcial a bronze medal, giving the Philippines a tally of three medals total—our first time to reach this much since the 1932 Olympics.

Weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz went straight to the top of the podium for Women's 55-kilogram on July 26—our first-ever gold medal at the Olympics! Boxer Nesthy Petecio soon followed suit by securing bronze on July 28 and then punching her way to a silver on July 31. Marcial is the third Filipino athlete to secure a medal, and with semi-finals and finals up ahead, both Marcial and Petecio are still in the running for a shiny gold medal! Yup, we're pushing for an all-gold multi-medal win, folks.

The last time we had a multi-medal win at the Olympics was at Los Angeles in 1932. Our athletes snagged three bronze medals: Teofilo Yldefonso, Simeon Toribio, and Jose Villanueva. Yldefonso, the "Ilocano Shark" for swimming, Toribio for high jump, and Villanueva for boxing.

As of writing, there's a chance to surpass our three-medal count from 1932. The Summer Games end on August 8 and we still have athletes like golfers Yuka Saso and Bianca Pagadanganan, among others, to watch!
