The Philippine Red Cross is offering mobile COVID-19 vaccination services via a converted bus—aptly dubbed the Bakuna Bus—to reach Filipinos with limited access to inoculation sites.
The mobile vaccination bus sports a customized interior that address the needs of vaccinations and other health services.
According to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), the bus is equipped with its own cold chain system, mobile refrigerator, and vaccine cabinet. Prior to COVID vaccinations, similar buses were used to inoculate more than a million children against polio and measles-rubella.
"Nagawa natin ito noong pagbabakuna kontra polio at measles. Magagawa din natin kontra COVID-19," PRC Chairman Senator Richard Gordon said. The project is in partnership with #UBEExpress of the Bert Lina Group of Companies.
"PRC Bakuna Bus will be there where we are needed. Our goal is to reach the last mile upang mas marami ang mabakunahan lalo na ang mga nangangailangan. Lahat ng Pilipino may laban. Lahat ay protektado," Gordon said.

The PRC has also partnered with the Department of Health to put up several COVID-19 testing centers across Metro Manila. These sites conduct saliva collection as an alternative specimen for the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test—meaning no more invasive swab tests.
Buses are also being used by the Office of the Vice President for their mobile testing center. Vice President Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo and her team launched the Swab Cab, where folks can get free mobile antigen swab-testing services, in March. Both mobile efforts were launched to reach those who could not go to centers for needed services.
