All the Epic Moments That Made Binibining Pilipinas 2021 the Best One Yet

(SPOT.ph) Hannah Arnold was crowned the new Binibining Pilipinas late night on Sunday, July 11, at the Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City. The Masbate rep bested 33 other candidates from across the Philippines to bag the title. And while we're all incredibly proud of her win, it looks like the Internet is celebrating so many more moments from the coronation night! We don't know if it's because 2020 was such a shit year or what, but the pageant-crazy Philippines went extra wild.

From moments that are bound to go down in Pinoy pageant history (Cinderella Faye Obeñita's stellar answer, definitely) to the extra meme-able content (Boy Abunda, please repeat the question), we lay down the bits that you can't miss from the 2021 coronation night.

Binibining Pilipinas 2021 Coronation Night was something else; here's proof.

Catriona Gray's Insane Hosting Energy

Miss Universe 2018 titleholder Catriona Gray reminded everyone why she won the biggest pageant crown there is. The Queen pretty much lit the stage on fire with her energy (and the type of gown only she could pull off)—which meant the Twitterverse was all about shading a certain person who hosted the latest Miss Universe. Olivia Culpo must have been sneezing all night (or day, wherever she was). Plus, don't worry, Cat, it's not the first time Valenzuela and Venezuela have been mixed up!

Nicole Cordoves Does the Pinky Webb Hair Flip

Nicole Cordoves, Miss Grand International 2016 1st runner-up, had a lot to match up to as Gray's co-host, no doubt about it. We bet she was a little stunned to be standing so close to the queen—but she more than made up for that little buffering moment with a perfectly timed hair flip. She made the not-so-subtle move while introducing veteran journalist Pinky Webb, who was one of the judges. Yes, as in that same Pinky Webb who kept her cool while interviewing someone having a bit of a temper tantrum.

Hannah Arnold's Gown Change

Why not both? The grand queen of the night treated everyone to this awesome dress change for her evening gown, chanelling both "Sweet 16" and debutante vibes in one go, as one clever Tweet pointed out.

That Question from Boy Abunda

Showbiz legend Boy Abunda gave everyone a collective "wait, what?" moment when he asked this during the Question & Answer segment. The question launched a thousand memes and multiple takes as everyone was suddenly drowning in their feels—but no one felt the pressure more than Karren Laurie Mendoza of Iloilo, who actually had to answer it.

Here's how she answered: "You know sometimes it’s hard to move on especially if we lost our loved ones, when we’re depressed, when we have anxiety, but most of all when we want to move forward in life. You know my favorite saying in a movie Disney Inside Out, is embrace your sadness because in embracing your sadness, you will feel happiness afterwards." TBH, we don't know how we'd answer this either.

Cinderella Mic Drop-Worthy Answer

[twitter:https://twitter.com/flowlenss/status/1414251411836076036]

The answer of the night was hands-down from Cinderella Faye Obeñita of Cagayan De Oro. She answered Michael Cinco's question, "How important are luxury items like bags, clothes, and jewelry for a woman, when the national economy is down and struggling?" in the best way given the time constraints. She started out by talking about how women can make their own choices when it comes to what to prioritize, and ended by saying, "I think I would choose to be that woman who understands the problems of the Philippines, the problems of my community, so that we will be able to uplift each other, and I would be that kind of woman who would comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable." She may not have dropped the mic after that last line, but it sure felt like she did.
