(SPOT.ph) As if we couldn't be more hyped for the Trese drop on Netflix happening June 11. The Internet is now going wild with speculation after pics of defaced Trese billboards across the Philippines—complete with creepy-real clips of the culprits—popped up the weekend before the animated adaptation of the popular graphic novel is released. No official body, whether real or supernatural, has fessed up, leaving folks to wonder what the heck is going down.
What's Happening With the Trese Billboards?

Pics of vandalized billboards first popped up online on June 5. The adverts featured supernatural detective Alexandra Trese front and center—only after the "defacing," there is what looks like red spray paint reading along the lines of "Siyudad namin 'to! Layas! Layas!" alongside some massive slashes in some. Now we don't know what type of vandals are capable of climbing up that high, or would have that big of a vendetta against Trese, except, well, ang mga aswang mismo.
For the uninitiated: the OG graphic novel, where the much-awaited series is based on, centers around Alexandra Trese. This mysterious detective has deep ties between the world we humans live in and the world of mythical Filipino creatures, mga aswang included—both of which, in Kajo Baldisimo and Budjette Tan's novels, are intertwined. Thing is, the creatures hold some level of fear for Trese and so it makes sense that they would try and stop her arrival.
And it looks like they have. Clips showing different creatures defacing the Trese billboards and signs surfaced online on June 7—and they sure look real.

So Who Is Behind the Creepy Stuff Happening to Trese Billboards?
Okay, so short of believing real monsters are behind the defacing—hey, you never know—all we can say is that no one else has claimed this to be their doing. Netflix Philippines has commented on the billboards, saying on social media that they will "Find out who did this" a la Alexandra Trese.

So far though, that's all any official body has said. Meanwhile, "Trese" has been steady on the trends on Twitter all of June 7 with folks throwing out their own guesses. Is it a marketing move or are their actual monsters trying to stop Trese's arrival? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
