(SPOT.ph) For the longest time, Italian desserts didn’t quite get the love they deserved in Manila as most restaurants usually serve the stereotypical gelato and tiramisu. But in recent months, we’ve been seeing more small shops and restaurants serving the classic confection known as cannoli—and we couldn’t be happier! This Italian pastry generally involves tube-shaped fried pastry dough that are filled with a ricotta mixture plus toppings like nuts, chocolate, and/or dried fruit—and when done right, they deliver a swoon-worthy union of crisp, crunchy, creamy, sweet, slightly savory, fruity, and/or bittersweet profiles. No need to book a flight to Italy, either, as we’ve rounded up places you can order the dessert in Manila.
