(SPOT.ph) In the past weeks, the various local government units' vaccination programs were put to the test as more and more people sign up for their long-awaited COVID-19 vaccine. Quezon City residents and workers, however, have struggled to register through virtual care network eZConsult. In the evening of June 29, the city government officially killed their partnership with the Zuellig Pharma Corporation-owned service. This came after "disgruntled QCitizens had to endure a queuing system to book a slot" for most of Tuesday.
"We have already given Zuellig ample time to improve their system upon their request and yet their system has crashed again for the [ninth] time. We don't want to cause undue stress to our constituents who only want to register for vaccination," Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement on June 29.

Unlike most registration systems, eZconsult lets users choose the time slot and vaccination site most convenient to them. It first experienced glitches during the sudden surge of registrants when the A4 priority group was finally allowed to get vaccinated.
On June 16, the city government already flagged Zuellig Pharma Corporation on the issue.
“Kaya natin kinuha ang serbisyo ng eZConsult ay para mapadali ang proseso ng pagpapatala ngunit ano ang gagawin natin kung ang sistema nila mismo ang ugat ng problema. The sacrifices and efforts of our medical frontliners and the time and sanity of our residents are being compromised by this inefficient system. They committed a seamless service but they failed repeatedly. Our QCitizens deserve nothing but the best service. We have already improved our system in vaccination centers where people no longer have to fall in line and go through the entire vaccination process within a maximum of 45 mins. Dapat kahit virtual pila wala din sa QC as long as vaccine supply is stable. Yet eZconsult is putting all our efforts down the drain," said Belmonte said on June 16.
As an alternative, Quezon City launched QC Vax Easy, a city government-assisted booking system, on June 25. Through the new website, people can sign up with their names and personal information, then wait for a text regarding their vaccination schedule and site. The first batch that signed up through the new system was inoculated on June 28.
To sign up for the QC Protektodo program, log on to QC Vax Easy.
