(SPOT.ph) Wine can be a tricky and intimidating subject for many—but then there are places like Planet Wine that have helped demystify the beverage and made wine appreciation more accessible to everyone. But the pandemic continues on, and with that, the wine shop and restaurant announced that they'll be permanently closing their doors of their last remaining branch in Shangri-La Plaza on June 1, with their last day being on June 30.

"With the current unfavorable business climate, we’re going to take a break and recharge starting July 1," writes Planet Grapes in a social media post published today, June 3. "Please come and enjoy your favorite food & wine (without the drama) for one last time before we close our doors in Shangri-La Mall East Wing on June 30. Thank you for your love and support (and tips too!) all these years, and as Arnold likes to say, Hasta La Vista baby!"
Planet Grapes was a favorite among both wine newbies and connoisseurs alike. Thier enomatic wine dispensers let you to sample different kinds of wines in smaller servings sizes before committing to a whole bottle, and they feature affordable wines from different parts of the world that prove wine doesn't have to cost an arm and leg to taste great. It's also here that you can pair wine not just with the usual cheese and grapes, but even Filipino-inspired eats like squid balls with curry and chicharon with a tinapa dip.
