(SPOT.ph) Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal—collectively dubbed NCR Plus—shifted to a new quarantine status on May 15 called "General Community Quarantine With Heightened Restrictions." Following the guideline that outdoor tourists attractions can reopen at 30% capacity, Intramuros Administration announced that Fort Santiago and Baluarte de Santiago in Manila City are reopening today, Monday, May 17.
Health protocols are in place, including visitor capacity at 200 people at a time for Fort Santiago and 100 people at a time for Baluarte de San Diego. Only people ages 18 to 65 are allowed to visit. Cashless transactions are preferred via PayMaya, but they're still accepting cash for the entrance fee (P75 for adults and P50 for students, PWDs, and seniors).
“The reopening of Fort Santiago and Baluarte San Diego will allow visitors to again experience the World’s Leading Tourist Attraction as recognized by the prestigious World Tourism Awards,” said Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat in a statement.
Intramuros is also temporarily suspending the operations of their community pantry to make way for the reopening of the two sites.
Fort Santiago is at Sta. Clara corner General Luna Street, Intramuros, Manila City. It is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Baluarte de San Diego is at Sta. Lucia Street, Intramuros, Manila City. It is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For updates, follow Intramuros Administration on Facebook.
