(SPOT.ph) If you're the type of beauty junkie who likes to explore every supermarket, drug store, and department store for accessible and wallet-friendly skincare gems that are readily available on local store shelves, you're probably familiar with Australian beauty brand BYS Cosmetics. Best known for their wide range of makeup products, the brand has made waves in the last few years thanks to their collaboration with Nadine Lustre and even their introduction of Korean heartthrob Park Seo Joon as their official ambassador. And it looks like they're not stopping there because they've just taken the brand to a new level: BYS Cosmetics just launched their first-ever skincare collection: Say hello to Skin by BYS!
Despite being a global brand originally based in Australia, Skin by BYS is a collection of products conceptualized and developed by the brand's Philippine team. "Our dream of making the Philippines lead when it comes to skin care innovations on the world stage has become a reality," says Angie Goyena, the general manager of IFace, BYS Cosmetics' local distributor. Where the brand has been primarily focused on makeup since its launch in 2004, they're now combining the love for "both the creativity and the canvas," as Goyena puts it.
This collection includes 10 products—pretty much every basic product you would need for a complete skincare routine, namely a makeup remover, facial cleanser, toner, serums, moisturizer, sunscreen, and even sheet masks. At first glance, you'll see that the packaging is rocking minimalist aesthetic with clear bottles, white caps, and just a subtle touch of iridescent details.
Their formulations embody a similar no-nonsense philosophy, doing away with ingredients like mineral oils, artificial colors, phthalates, parabens, silicones, and sulphates, all of which can potentially be irritating or harmful to certain skin types. The products are also vegan- and cruelty-free with no animal derivatives on the ingredients lists. Instead, you’ll find a total of 10 natural and nourishing ingredients in each product including angelica gigas root extract, sesame seed extract, licorice root extract, and more—a powerful and nourishing cocktail they call Botaniceutical Plus 10.
Now, if you're curious about the various products in their lineup and which would work best for you, we've listed them all below along with the notable features and ingredients of each.
Check it out:
The first step to any nighttime skincare routine is always removing your makeup or any sunscreen and dirt that may be left on your face—yes, double-cleansing is recommended even if you didn't wear make up. The Extra Gentle Micellar Water helps you quickly wipe away any nasties sitting on your face at the end of the day—no rinse required.
The Extra Gentle Milk Jelly Cleanser is a non-irritating facial wash that promises to clean skin while also leaving it smoother and brighter. It's fit for all skin types and won't leave your face feeling tight and dry!
If you're looking to invest in more active ingredients to improve your complexion and skin texture, you'll be happy to know that the Extra Hydrating Balancing Toner is formulated with hyaluronic acid that helps boost moisture, restore skin elasticity, and reduce fine lines.
The collection includes two serums: the Extra Glow Brightening Serum, which boosts skin radiance with vitamin C, papaya, and lime fruit extract and the Extra Firming Youth Serum, which promises to reduce fine lines and wrinkles while (as its name suggests) making skin feel firmer. You can choose whichever best suits your personal skincare concerns!
Before you ask: Yes, everyone needs to moisturize their skin—even those of you with oily or combination skin. The water-based and non-comedogenic Extra Glow Face Cream has a quick-drying, lightweight texture that quickly sinks into the skin, so it won't leave you feeling sticky or looking overly shiny. It delivers a boost of hydration while also promising to brighten the complexion. Plus, we love the soft, fresh fragrance.
Some people can get away with using just a moisturizer all over the face, but if you like to apply extra hydration in the delicate area under your eyes, check out the Extra Brightening Eye Cream. It has a thicker, more nourishing texture compared to the face moisturizer, delivering a more concentrated boost of hydration to the undereye area. It also promises to brighten the undereye and diminish puffiness with anti-inflammatory properties.
In case you're still not aware, you need to wear sunscreen every single day—no exceptions. Yes, even if you're staying indoors. Yes, even if you're blessed with a fair amount of melanin. If you're not a fan of thick, sticky sunscreens, the Extra Effortless Pore Perfecting Sunblock would be right up your alley. Its lightweight, spreadable consistency won't leave you feeling oily after application. It has broad-spectrum SPF 50 PA+++ as well as pore-blurring and sebum-controlling properties.
Face masks aren't necessarily a skincare essential, but they're great to have in stock if you treat your skincare routine as its own form of relaxation. Spoil yourself a few times a week with the extra hydration and nourishment that a good sheet mask can provide. Skin by BYS' Extra Firming Sheet Mask and Extra Glow Sheet Mask are only P89 each, so you'll want to stock up!
Skin by BYS is available at Watsons and The SM Store. You can also order the collection online through the Watsons website and Shop SM.
