(SPOT.ph) When you’re looking for a casual spot to hang out in that also serves great eats and drinks, cafés usually come to mind—and though we’ll always have a soft spot for places with visually appealing interiors, in these times, it’s all about having al-fresco options. Outdoor dining has gained popularity in the past year, partly due to safety concerns brought about by the pandemic, but also because digging into good food while breathing in fresh air is just unbeatable. You can do just that at these cafés around the Metro that have al-fresco dining areas; it sure doesn’t hurt that these areas happen to be totally IG-worthy, too.

This neighborhood café in Quezon City exudes a chill vibe with its beachy vibe whether you decide to stay indoors or outdoors. In the latter case, you can sit back and relax on their rustic woven chairs and tables as you’re surrounded by greenery and lots of fresh air. Your taste buds are in for a treat as well, as Cafe Guilt’s menu includes everything from light meals to coffee drinks and even cocktails.

Greg & Sally Tree Garden Cafe
A longtime Marikina favorite, Greg & Sally Tree Garden Cafe lets you feel like you’re in an enchanted forest with their lush garden dining area. White and wooden chairs and tables are spread out in a space that’s got trees and plants in abundance. It’s the perfect setting for a swoon-worthy date, and you can choose from their vast selection of Filipino and continental eats while you’re at it.

Almusal Cafe
This all-day brunch café at The Pop Up Katipunan is a go-to for great Filipino and American breakfast eats—and these are best enjoyed at their outdoor dining area. It’s bright and sunny, which brings out the best of the wooden benches, tables, and floors—plus there’s a pop of color from potted ferns placed around the area. What better foil to their famous Pork Belly Tocino (P340), really?

La Cathedral Cafe
It doesn’t get any more romantic than at La Cathedral Cafe in Intramuros, where you can dine under the stars in a dreamy open-air setting (namely, their roof deck). It might just transport you right to the streets of Europe! Plus, they’re located right behind the Manila Cathedral, giving you a stunning view of the historic church.

Granville
When in San Juan and the hankering for great coffee or beer strikes, be sure to drop by Granville. While they’re known for their cozy interiors, their al-fresco dining area isn’t to be missed either. It’s got lots of sunlight (get your cameras ready!) and plush and cozy sofas that you’ll want to sink into as you dig into their homey comfort eats.

Cafe Adriatico
Having been around since 1979, Filipino-Spanish eatery Café Adriatico is a Manila institution that needs no introduction. Its dim and antique-leaning interiors are quite the sight to behold—but if you’re in for a sunnier experience, you can also opt to dine al fresco, as they’ve filled the outdoor area of their Malate branch with red seats and tables.

Papakape
You’re in for a totally tranquil time at Papakape, an outdoor coffee shop in Makati with a glass-house counter! The café is located right in front of the home and laundromat of the owners—and with its rustic wooden furniture and trees and plants all over, it’s no wonder that it’s so easy to feel at home. Though you’ll probably come for the laid-back ambience, you’ll definitely stay for their one-of-a-kind ginger-infused coffee drinks. Aside from their original Palanan street location, they’ve also opened a pop-up in Poblacion that also has outdoor seating.

Kandle Cafe
Third-wave coffee is the name of the game for this Quezon City café, and their al-fresco dining area is as relaxing as it gets. You can enjoy your cup of joe while chilling out in their sleek black seats with glossy wooden tables and foliage all around. They’re also a pet-friendly spot, so you can bring your furry friend along with you.

Inarawan Cafe
Located at Concepcion Uno in Marikina, Inarawan Cafe is a small coffee shop whose main café area is a narrow, roofed area. While the inside of the said area has its own rustic and artsy charm, you can also opt to stay outside and have your cups of joe at the benches outside—and bask in the view of the trees while you’re at it.

Talisay the Garden Cafe
Not only can you dive into great Filipino eats by Chef Myke “Tatung” Sarthou at Talisay the Garden Cafe; you can also spend the afternoon in their foliage-filled al-fresco dining area. This is a famous date place for a reason—the view of all that greenery makes for an idyllic experience, and with dishes like the Paella Mixta (P790) and Calderetang Kambing (P675), you’ll be on a flavor high, too.
