There's nothing weird about your tapsilog and milk-tea order; the algorithm has your back. Grab's mix-and-match cloud kitchen has confirmed that for Filipinos, milk tea goes with everything.

GrabKitchen, which allows customers to order anything they want from multiple merchants with just one delivery fee, has confirmed that milk tea is always on order, paired with everything from fried chicken to Korean food, said its Project Lead Josephine Kamiyama.

"Milk tea has become a staple in mix-and-match orders," Kamiyama told reportr in an e-mail interview.

GrabKitchen users love to experiment with their orders, she said. Established in 2020, the cloud kitchen allows customers to mix and match orders like tonkatsu from Yabu and milk tea from CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice.

The single delivery fee makes having milk tea with anything very popular, she said.

"For the most part, customers do take advantage of the opportunity to order items from multiple merchants at the same time," she said.

While food deliveries come and go throughout the day in GrabKitchen, Kamiyama said orders for main dishes usually peak during lunch and dinner, while drinks such as milk tea are most in demand in the afternoons.

"We believe that families are doing bulk orders and they see the mix and match feature of GrabKitchen as an opportunity to buy the food they like, from different restaurants at the same time," she said.

Currently, there are four operating GrabKitchens in the Philippines: one in Makati, two in Manila, and one in Parañaque. More GrabKitchens could operate in other areas soon should the opportunity arise, said Kamiyama.
