This Subtle Proud-Parent Post by the VP Is Such a Mom Thing to Do

(SPOT.ph) So it turns out Tricia Robredo was among the volunteer doctors at the mobile antigen testing center created by the Office of the Vice-President—a.k.a. her mother, Maria Leonor "Leni" Gerona Robredo—during their operations in Malabon City on April 6. City Mayor Lenlen Oreta posted a few pictures of the doctor in full PPE during her shift at the Swab Cab on Facebook.

"More than the number of antigen tests you conducted today, we are more thankful for the inspiration your family provides," noted Oreta in his post, which as of writing has around 1,200 shares and more than 4,000 reacts. And speaking of family, her mom wasn't late to the online party either.

The Vice President also posted Tricia's pictures while at the Swab Cab to her personal Facebook page, along with two screenshots of other posts showing thanks for the doctor's help and the mobile testing effort as a whole.

"Tricia was one of the volunteer swabbers of our Swab Cab today," she confirmed in her caption, adding a subtle "and a number of people she was with sent me pics and tagged me on Facebook." The Vice-President's second daughter graduated from the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health in 2020—and it is clear the VP is proud of how she's using her degree.

Robredo followed her simple statement acknowledging her daughter's efforts with an update on the Swab Cab. They were able to test 711 individuals in a single day; 46 turned out positive, bringing the total number of positive individuals during their two days' testing in Malabon up to 80. Robredo noted that an ambulance is on standby to bring those who tested positive to an isolation center. She also thanked all the folks working on the Swab Cab project.

When your mother is the Vice President of the Philippines, it gets much harder to keep a low profile—even more so when she posts a subtle thanks on Facebook! Still, with the surge in COVID-19 cases threatening to topple our healthcare system again, any help is much appreciated. Plus, we're sure the folks who can now say that technically speaking, their doctor is the Vice President's daughter are happy for an added flex.
