(SPOT.ph) While baking and cooking were among several trends that caught on during the quarantine in 2020, some culinary connoisseurs went the extra step and decided to turn their kitchen experiments into full-on entrepreneurial endeavors. You won’t find these guys on your usual food-delivery apps, but you can still contact these establishments directly and have these meals sent to your doorstep through their own delivery options.

These food shops in Cebu will satisfy your cravings—and yes, they deliver, too:

Pizza Therapy

Pizza Therapy first started out as a wood-fire, hand-tossed pizza delivery and catering service back in 2019. After almost a year of hiatus, Chef Nico Rivera has since opened a pop-up stall at Sugbo Mercado in IT Park. Pizza Therapy sells pizzas by the slice or as a whole 14-inch pie, whose prices range from P240 (for their cheese-topped pizza) to P400 (for their pepperoni). Their more signature pies, though—the Yard Bird (topped with grilled chicken, basil, pesto, black olives, and mushroom); Pork & Pine (ham, pineapple, and red onion); and Spicy Chorizo (Cebuano chorizo, green bell pepper, red onion, and chili flakes)—are each priced at P330. They also offer side dishes such as their garden salad, garlic bread, and mozzarella sticks.

Pizza Therapy is at the Sugbo Mercado in IT Park, Cebu City. Deliveries may be booked via LEB, Wednesdays to Sundays, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, check out their Facebook and Instagram pages.

For desserts, this take on the Basque burnt cheesecake might just be up your alley. Owner Franz Ivan Dy describes their cheesecake as “sweet, sour, savory, and bitter, all in one pastry.” Apart from the original (P1,250), Rhapsody Desserts and Delectables’ cakes come in two more flavors: coffee (P1,350) and Kyoto matcha (P2,000). The regular size cheesecake can serve up to 12 persons. They also offer mini versions of their original and coffee flavors (P650 and P700, respectively), which can serve around six to eight.

Rhapsody Desserts and Delectables is at Gemsville Subdivision, Lahug, Cebu City. For orders and inquiries, check out their Facebook and Instagram pages.

Pinche!

The word pinche, according to owner Charmine Ann Go, has a whole range of meanings in the Spanish language. But after trying out their signature Birria tacos—stuffed with beef, onions, and cilantros, with a tortilla dipped in meat stew and then fried—you’ll definitely associate the word with really flavorful tacos. Prices for the Birria tacos vary, depending on how many in a box you plan to order. The most affordable box has two pieces for P245, though they also come in minis (P200). Other taco offerings include the Baja Fish (regular size priced at P230, minis at P220), Korean beef (P240 regular, P220 mini), Carnitas or pulled pork (P220 regular, P210 mini), and Cajun shrimp (P260 regular, P240 mini). Also on their menu are quesadillas, burritos, and taco rice bowls.

Pinche! Is at the YelloCube Food Hub along Wilson Street in Lahug, Cebu City. For more information, visit their Facebook and Instagram pages.

Chef Pat Zamora founded Pattie Bakes sometime in mid-2020. This growing pastry provider has gone on to become one of the better-known, most affordable sources of premium cinnamon rolls in Cebu. These fluffy and soft cinnamon rolls are packaged in boxes of eight and come in three flavors: Classic Cream Cheese (P330), Irish Matcha (P365), and Toffee Nut (P380). An assorted box—which has four cream cheese rolls and two rolls each of Irish matcha and toffee nut—comes in at a very worth-it P370. Another item on Pattie Bakes’s menu is the Strawberry Chantilly Cake (P1,200). Zamora even plans on adding cookies soon!

Pattie Bakes is at Banawa, Cebu CIty. Pastries are baked every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, so orders may be placed before any of these days. Deliveries are made via Grab, Maxim, or personal pick-up. For further information, check out their Facebook and Instagram pages.

Starting out as a delivery-only service in late 2020, Unlisted Burger recently set up shop at Northzion Centrale in Canduman, Mandaue City. After hearing plenty of positive feedback from customers, business owner and college student Jhon Rolie Pescador decided to open his own restaurant in order to provide burgers that were as freshly grilled as possible. Burger prices range from P100 to P275, with the option of getting them solo or as a combo (with regular fries and a Pepsi-product drink). If you’re someone who really loves your burger dribbling with cheese, then the Double Mozzarella is a must-try.

Dee’Sweets

If you’re looking for beautifully designed cakes for a special occasion, but find what most established cake shops have on display too commercial, immediately recognizable, or overly sugary, then Dee’Sweets just might be the treat for you. This home-baker offers custom buttercream cakes with floral designs. A regular floral cake, which, according to their menu, consists of “meticulously piped buttercream roses,” costs P2,000, while the more complex designer floral cake, “dominantly decorated with buttercream peonies,” is pegged at P3,000. Orders must be made three to four days in advance and can also be further customized.

According to owner Mandee Tan, some customers have expressed their hesitation to eat the cakes. Fun fact: Tan had even taken a course in Korea to hone her cake-designing skills.

Dee’Sweets is at Maria Luisa, Banilad, Cebu City. For orders, visit their Instagram page.
