If you're feeling adventurous, we've got just the thing: Malaysian sponge-cake shop Jim's Recipe will have a Pork Floss Sponge Bar starting May 1!
Unconventional as the combo may be, it surprisingly works—we've been huge fans of Jim's Recipe's soft sponge cakes for a long time, and this time, it gets a meaty punch from pork floss' salty-sweet, umami flavor. You get an overall bite that's right smack dab between savory and sweet (but not too sweet!), and it hits the spot when it's 3 p.m. and you can't decide whether you want a salty snack or dessert.
If that's too far from your comfort zone—or you're just hankering for chocolate, Jim's Recipe's got the Crunchy Oreo Sponge Bar, which will also be available starting May 1. With their soft sponge coated in Oreo crumbs, you get just the right dose of the chocolate cookie's bittersweet and vanilla-forward profile that's perfect with—you guessed it—milk!
These new flavors will go for P89 for one, P170 for a box of two, and P330 for a box of three (you can mix and match flavors!). You can head over to the branch nearest you to get your fix—they've also got a buy-one, get-one promo at their shops on May 1! On May 2 onwards, you can order for delivery by heading to their website or searching for Jim's Recipe on GrabFood or Foodpanda.
