(SPOT.ph) If you grew up reading Archie comics or watching movies like Grease, then you probably get what we mean when we say that diners get us all nostalgic. Imagine sipping milkshakes with rock n' roll tunes playing in the background, especially if you've got friends (or your special other) in tow! One café in Cebu takes inspiration from diners but reimagines it in a modern light—and with totally IG-worthy results. Yup, we're talking about Sprocketeer Cafe, which should definitely be on your bucket list if you're visiting the area!
Sprocketeer Cafe showcases a cool-meets-retro look, with tiles on the walls and an eye-catching color scheme of white, teal, and orange. There are a number of plants stationed at different corners, and a must-snap neon sign on the wall that says "drink happy thoughts." They've got an eye-catching counter, too, with another neon sign of their name.
Marketing Communications Consultant Gianina Macrohon explains that the name "Sprocketeer" comes from the word "sprocket", from the concept of sprocket hole photography. "[Sprocketeer Cafe] started as a photography[-inspired] milk-tea café, with a small corner selling vintage cameras and films," Macrohon shares in an exchange with SPOT.ph. The shop was founded by art teacher Trinket Arandilla and opened in April 2012. "[It soon] rebranded into a modern diner with more food and drink choices, but still [preserved] some photography-related design accents," adds Macrohon.
