(SPOT.ph) Black Widow. We've been waiting for the origin story of this badass Avenger for literal years now—and the release date has been pushed back yet again. But this time, there's a little more hope that it is finally the done deal! Marvel has announced a day-and-date release for the Black Widow on July 9, which means that it lands in U.S. theaters and drops on Disney Plus simultaneously. Gird your loins, prep your VPNs...

...And an extra U.S. $30, according to CNET. Yup, that "Premier Access" means a lot more bucks to get to watch how Natasha Romanoff came to be. Disney has been experimenting with theater-and-streaming, or one or the other, with their releases since the pandemic came crashing. They previously tried this combination with the release of Raya and The Last Dragon—here we note that ironically, Disney Plus is yet to reach the Southeast Asian region where the movie took inspiration—so it looks like they're giving it another go with this much-awaited Marvel movie.

Here's a Quick Black Widow Refresher

Our first glimpse of the Russian spy in her homeland came in December 2019 so this has been a long time coming. Scarlett Johansson is back as Romanoff, joined by what's looking to be one heck of a wack family. Florence Pugh stars as Yelena (Natasha's blood sister?), David Harbour as Alexei a.k.a. The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz as Melina a.k.a. The Iron Maiden. We don't fully know the Black Widow's secrets just yet as one of the more mysterious Avengers—so who knows how this will completely change what she does in Endgame.

Another movie from Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was also pushed back: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, from July 9 to September 3 in the U.S. No word yet on whether it drops on streaming too—or when Disney Plus will finally reach our shores. We'll keep watch for you.
