(SPOT.ph) If you ever find yourself needing to get tested for COVID-19 and would prefer to try a cheaper and more comfortable alternative, check this out: A new COVID-19 saliva testing site has been set up at the Araneta City in Quezon City. The commercial center has partnered with the Philippine Red Cross to open a drive-thru saliva collection center at the Araneta City Bus Port, located along General Romulo Avenue across Ali Mall.
Here's What You Should Know About This COVID-19 Drive-Thru Test in Metro Manila
The saliva test is an alternative specimen for RT-PCR testing, with a collection procedure that is much less invasive than the swab test. The collection site at the Araneta City bus port will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until August 2021, according to a statement.
You can book an appointment through the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) website; be sure to do so beforehand. The saliva test at the Araneta City costs P2,000 and payments can be made online. The session will take only 10 minutes but you should be at the site at least 15 minutes before your appointed time. Results will be sent via e-mail. PRC notes that saliva test results cannot be used by outgoing international passengers.
The agreement was formalized on Wednesday, February 17, between Araneta City Senior Management Consultant J. Rowell Recinto and Senior Vice President for Operations Antonio Mardo, and PRC Chairperson Richard Gordon and Secretary General Elizabeth Zaballa.
For more information and to book an appointment, log on to the PRC booking site.
