(SPOT.ph) After putting up massive art installations like the "Tree of Life" at Robinsons Place Naga in Camarines Sur and "The Victor" at Robinsons Bridgetowne in Quezon City, Filipino-American artist JEFRË is set to wow the world with another massive sculpture. He is currently working on "Heart to Heart," a permanent heart-shaped installation in Port St. Lucie, Florida that's scheduled to launch on February 14, 2022.
"Heart to Heart," which is commissioned by Canadian home builder Mattamy Homes, hopes to claim the title of being the world's largest heart sculpture at 100 feet in height. It's set to rise above a 30-foot circular pool at the center of a master-planned community called Tradition. People can also enter the intricately shaped structure through a staircase and walk through a glass bridge that connects both sides of the heart sculpture. There will be some play of light and reflections during the day as the smooth stainless steel surface of "Heart to Heart" shines over the water. At night, LED lights are set to change the mood.
"Tradition is what is in your heart. My goal is to create an iconic landmark for the city and people of Tradition. I want to build a postcard moment that brings people together," JEFRË said in a statement.
JEFRË graduated from the Ohio State University and worked for high-profile clients like Skidmore Owings and Merrill, Santiago Calatrava, and Philippe Starck. After an unexpected heart attack at the age of 35, he launched his own firm StudioJEFRË, which focuses on functional pieces of public art.
Architecture magazine Florida Inside Out named him one of the "Seven Faces of Design" in 2007. Some of his prominent pieces are the six-storey "The Beacon" and "Code Wall" at Lake Nona's Town Center.
