(SPOT.ph) Can you believe it’s only been three years since Netflix unleashed a little teen rom-com called To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before on the world? The movie, based on Jenny Han’s series of books, was quietly released on the streaming platform on August 17, 2018, and proceeded to charm us all with its old-school mix of high-school angst, offbeat cast of characters, and off-the-charts chemistry between Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky, a.k.a. Lana Condor and Noah Centineo.
If the release of the last movie in the trilogy, To All the Boys: Always and Forever, has you feeling a little fragile—kind of like you graduated from high school again and had to say goodbye to your friends, let’s be honest—let this list be your trip down nostalgia lane.

Lara Jean’s Friends
Lara Jean was most of us in high school—keeping a low profile and just trying to get through it all unscathed—and Christine and her Subway smuggling was like a lifeline. She was never afraid to speak her mind, even if it meant butting heads with the ever popular Gen, blood relation be damned. And if Chris was the wild-child friend always pushing Lara Jean to break out of her shell, Lucas was the steady, calming presence who had wisdom beyond his years. Can we imagine Lucas and Christine becoming roommates in New York in their first few years out of college? Heck yeah.
Lara Jean’s Family
We’ll say it: we’ll miss Kitty a 12 too. It’s easy to see why Lara Jean preferred spending time at home to bake or watch old movies; she had sisters who were actually fun to hang out with. Yes, there were moments when they probably wanted to rip each other’s hair out—Kitty sending out those letters and the resulting utter embarrassment comes to mind—but ask anyone who has a sister and they’d confirm: that just makes it even more real.
That Cool Bedroom
The teal-colored wall with the delicate flowers, the lights wound around the brass headboard, the imaginary conversations Lara Jean had with Peter on the floor and the bed…we’re glad they didn’t show her packing up her room to move to New York, because we would have just not seen anything through the tears.
Lara Jean’s Style
Everyone probably has their own favorite outfit from all three movies—who could forget that bright pink coat at the end of the first one? Whichever your top pick for best OOTD is, you’ve probably copped one or two ideas from LJ’s wardrobe. Part-Korean street style, part-’60s schoolgirl, Lara Jean’s style was unique from the get-go, but never over the top. It’s one of the things that made her stand out, but also one way that she always stayed true to herself.
The Music

Bet you’ll always think of that bus going up those snow-covered mountains whenever you hear Lauv’s “I Like Me Better.” Any teen movie worth its salt has a kick-ass soundtrack—see Pretty in Pink—and To All the Boys did not disappoint. From Wild Nothing’s “Chinatown” to that Anna of the North song and finally to Leah Nobel’s “Beginning Middle End,” all three movies had tracks we’re adding permanently to our playlists.
The Life Lessons
No, we don’t mean Dr. Covey’s mortifying pre-ski trip sex talk. Reliving high school through Lara Jean’s eyes, however fictional, was a real eye-opener because let’s face it: even adults need to be reminded of some important facts of life. Be honest about your feelings no matter how scary it gets. Old friendships can change but that doesn’t mean they have to end. Growing into your own person doesn’t always happen from well-laid plans. And yes, hand-written love letters will always be cool.

Do we even have to explain?

We knew it from the moment Peter gave Lara Jean that look in the diner. You know the one: arched eyebrow over chocolate milkshake, head cocked to one side. Trouble and heartache, all wrapped up in one cute package. In Lana Condor’s words, “Peter challenges [Lara Jean] a lot.” He may have been the Internet’s Boyfriend, but he wasn’t perfect, and neither was she. Still, when Lara Jean confessed that she didn’t get into Stanford and immediately launched into an apology, he knew to stop her right there, ask her how she was, and tell her it wasn’t her fault. It’s those little shining moments that make him perfect for her.
Jenny Han
Raise your hand if you started looking forward to spotting Jenny Han’s cameo in each movie! The 40-year-old author played a middle-school teacher in the movies, chaperoning dances, giving out awards, and generally being a sunny presence with an infectious smile.

Yes, they’re just friends. But we found ourselves watching with baited breath anyway whenever they did interviews together or talked about how they’ve got each other’s back. We all swooned when we found out that sleeping-on-the-couch photo was taken behind the scenes. Now we have to face the fact that we won’t be getting any more movies anytime soon with those two together? Excuse us, we just need to go get a box of tissues.
