(SPOT.ph) Aside from exploring historical monuments and IG-worthy spots, visiting cool cafés in the area is always worth including in anybody’s itinerary. After all, cafés are more than just places to get good coffee or tea; sometimes they become a highlight of a trip, too with their ambience and cool features. Thankfully, there’s no shortage of visually striking cafés here in Asia. And while we’re not exactly advised to travel right now, it sure doesn’t hurt to add these spots to your bucket list and dream of the day we can fly out of the country again!

Aoyama Flower Market Tea House is the café counterpart of Japanese flower shop Aoyama Flower Market, and stepping into their premises is akin to entering another world—one where you’re surrounded by colorful blooms and vibrant foliage! The café—which has branches Aoyama, Kichijoji, and Akasaka—serves different kinds of tea (some with herbs and flowers!), savory eats, and desserts.

Stylenanda Pink Pool Cafe (Seoul, Korea)

Korean clothing and makeup brand Stylenanda is famous among the fashion-savvy for their cool-meets-girly aesthetic, and they extend it to the food-and-drink realm at the Stylenanda Pink Pool Cafe. They’ve got two branches: one inside the Stylenanda Pink Hotel in Myeongdong, and one inside the Stylenanda flagship store in Hongdae. The café has the same Wes Anderson-esque pink vibe, with tropical accents—including pink and blue tiles, beach-inspired seats, and even a swimming pool in the Hongdae branch. While you’re there, be sure to try their cotton candy-topped coffee and ice cream.

It doesn’t get any more whimsical than Little House of Dreams, which presents a sweet and dainty vibe with plenty of white and pastel hues, as well as greenery that breathes life into the space. The interiors are the perfect foil to their sweet desserts, which include cakes, macarons, and other pastries that are perfect paired with a cup of joe.

This Vietnamese spot goes for a look that’s at once elegant yet quirky, with royal blue walls and flowers on the ceiling—but also details like a giant Nutcracker soldier and a mural depicting the countryside as seen from medieval arched windows (it looks like it came out of a children’s storybook!). As the name implies, tea is the name of the game here, as they’ve got a wide selection of intricate teapots as well as the drinks—including fruity, floral, black, green, and herbal varieties.

Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown is a busy and bustling space, but in the midst of it all is Merchant’s Lane—a hidden café known for their old-world charm and laid-back vibe. This is best reflected in their ambience, which is as rustic as it is lively with deliberately uneven-colored walls, homey wooden seats, and plenty of greenery all around. Aside from coffee and tea, they also serve one-of-a-kind dishes that have Western, Malay, Chinese, and Indian influences—don’t miss the Hongkie Beef Stew which has slow-cooked Cantonese-style beef, plus mash and gravy.

Stretsis Parlour—the café counterpart of Thai clothing brand Stretsis—pretty much screams extra. Their interiors were done in collaboration with British space design firm House of Hackney, and it’s as intricate-looking as you can get: think ornate floral patterns decking the walls, plush blue curtains, colorful flowers, chandeliers… the list goes on and on, really! Their food gets the same enthralling treatment, as they serve desserts and drinks that are plated with the same level of detail. Do clear some space on your phone before visiting, as you’ll be snapping photos of every corner.

O’Mills Bakery & Bistro (Shanghai, China)

When in Shanghai and looking to recharge with good coffee as well as freshly-baked artisanal breads, be sure to pay O’Mills Bakery & Bistro a visit. The café has an industrial yet homey atmosphere with off-white brick walls, wooden tables, foliage, and a handwritten menu on the boards above the counter. Beyond the interiors, O’Mills is best known for their top-notch sourdough breads and pizzas, as well as plant-based eats.

Coworking spaces aren’t exactly known for being relaxing, but this café in Gurugram could very well change that perception. Cafe Soul Garden has both indoor- and outdoor-seating areas and is best known for the latter, which features lush greenery all around and white benches that sparkle under the sunlight during the day. Located in Taipei, micro coffee shop GinGin Coffee Co. is one space that manages to be both playful and calming at once, thanks to how they pair together shades of navy blue and yellow, plus light wooden chairs and bespeckled tables. Aside from A+ cups of joe, they also offer casual comfort eats like pasta, toasts, and meaty mains.
