(SPOT.ph) Now that more telcos are starting to make 5G more accessible with a steady rollout for 2021 and increased network coverage area, the demand for 5G handsets is expected to rise accordingly. OPPO has announced the launch of its latest handset, the Reno5, which will be officially available in the Philippines in February.

OPPO has engineered the Reno5 with advanced imaging capabilities from the get go. Calling it the Full Dimension Fusion (FDF) Portrait Video System, the core camera technology in Reno5 promises to deliver professional-level photo and video capabilities in one easy-to-use package.  Simply put, you can expect clear and crisp images, whatever the lighting condition might be.

Powering the Reno5 5G is a Qualcomm 765G 8-core CPU while the 4G version uses a Qualcomm 720G chip. Both chips slot the Reno5 in the mid-range category in terms of main specs, which include a 6.43-inch screen with 1080x2400 pixel resolution, fast 90Hz refresh rate and 20:9 screen ratio. For graphics chips, the 4G version has Adreno 618 while the 5G version has Adreno 620—which are both good for gaming. You can get the 8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage for the 4G variant, while the 5G version has two options: 128GB internal storage with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage with 12GB RAM.

With the increased bandwidth and faster streaming available in 5G networks, the Reno5’s enhanced video and photo capabilities makes it the ideal phone for high-quality content creation. At the back, the Reno5 has a quad-camera array which includes a 64-megapixel (main), 8-megapixel (wide), 2-megapixel (macro) and 2-megapixel (depth) sensors.

For enhanced video, the Reno5 has AI Highlight Video which can automatically detect a scene’s light levels and adjust brightness and color levels for the most ideal video. For stills, OPPO’s Portrait Recognition and Scene Design Manager can help users take the perfect photos without too much fiddling with the camera settings.

The Reno5’s glass front, glass back, and aluminum chassis frame give the phone a premium feel. You can get the Reno5 4G in Starry Black and Fantasy Silver, while the 5G version comes in Galactic Silver and Starry Black. Plus, if you're the type who needs to top up their device's battery, you'd be happy to know that both phones are fast-charge capable using OPPO’s own SuperVOOC fast charging technology.

The OPPO Reno5 will be available for pre-order starting February 10. Prices have yet to be announced.
